I don't know but I find it creepy when Facebook tells me that I should reconnect with a friend of mine that died in September. I realize that they don't have a clue that she died, but it's another argument against that "reconnect" feature they just started.

Do you de-friend the dead? How soon after she died?

I thought Facebook had recently introduced a -- sorry, lack a better word for it -- status for deceased people's pages so they could become more like memorials and stopped showing up in suggestions. I wonder how Facebook makes that kind of thing prank-proof, 'cause I'm sure Hank has tried to get Wonk declared legally dead several times already.

Was there some kind of census on this issue during the year I was on hiatus? Because I'd like my data points to include efficacy as well as customer satisfaction testimonials, as I'm afraid other metrics could be somewhat one-dimensional at best.

There are lots of great stories of famous misanthropes or cynics whose unflinching and unsentimental worldview seemed like that was all there was, but then there is revealed to the reader or moviegoer a moment of tenderness, bathos and sentimentality that deepens our appreciation for the person by showing them to be complex, or at least that discloses some vast disappointment of an idealist youth that explains the origin of the cynicism.

It makes me wonder whether you have a closet full of plush toys somewhere. Or a picture of a dog that pulled you out of a frozen lake, only to die soon after of an undiagnosed liver condition.
