I no longer need Xanax for that purpose. I have discovered the cure for working with people you'd rather slap or throw down a flight of stairs than endure listening to: Work alone.

Please, please, tell me more about your children, and your relationship woes. Oh, oh... and when that's done, ask me for advice on how to deal with the partner who's driving you nuts. I'd like nothing better than to tell you the obvious answer everyone else would, and which you knew before you asked me or the five other people you quizzed about it this morning. Because really, really, I'd rather not read Wikipedia. I'd much rather experience the fascinating cornucopia of adventures and intriguing insights we all know and love as 'You.'

My poor mother is allergic to morphine. She discovered this while hospitalized with several severe abdominal abscesses she developed after a "minor" surgery. The only thing worse than the pain of severe abdominal abscesses is throwing up for several hours while suffering from said abscesses.

I have one half the week. The other, I fly solo. I always did my own typing anyway, and voicemail screens a call just fine.

Doing a "build-out" is nonsense. I looked at getting an SBA loan and then thought, fuck it. Build the thing on its own revenue or don't bother.

I cannot believe you had to daily endure the insipid prattlings of the intellectually and emotionally inferior being they hired to serve as your assistant. That you survived it without commiting acts of violence puts you somewhere on the spectrum between hero and saint.

Clearly, the hired help needs to "seen" and not heard. the minions that clean up after; the nanny the butler etc. it's all good until they unleash. sigh.

but yeah I'm with you. drama should be checked AT THE DOOR. people do it for sympathy. people do it because they want to make excuses for being late or not in at all or for poor performance
but reality is you are here to work and you gotta push past that and step it up

Indeed. I lobbied management for some form of recognition, and they'd have given it to me, but for this... The chief offenders weren't always assistants, but often other lawyers.

I had heard that too, but according to their website, they still run factory tours.

I thought the glassblowing at Bunratty was more interesting. I'm sure that had absolutely nothing to do with the number of pints consumed at Durty Nelly's* or the adorable Irishman explaining the process.

*We had an early morning flight out of Shannon and wanted to stay as close to the airport as possible.
