It comes across like the idiots over the last couple days who keep asking why Muslims haven't disavowed or condemned Paris, to which we see thousands of responses along the lines of "Try Google, Moron."

I, for one, was very glad to see that this time.

You thought they were burning "plus" signs?

I think the European press is better on reporting than the American - I noticed that almost every French reporter included quotes from Muslim leaders in their articles on the attack, something you just don't see over here.

I have a large group of people I follow from various MENA countries on twitter, and it is constantly full of negative statements on terrorist incidents that don't get noticed over here.

I will also say, it is good to see Thurgreed disavowing Ben Carson.

It's also just a very different attack in terms of scale and target. There was an undercurrent last time of "Charlie Hebdo was insulting…."

Absolutely 100% for the Klan. It is an explicitly Protestant Christian organization. Anti-semitic and anti-Catholic as well, because they're real nice people that way. I am shocked Icky doesn't know this.

Bigotry isn't a religion.

The militia have a variety of different organizations, most explicitly christian fundamentalist but a few more of the nazi variety.
Variety. No specific religious tenet.

Ok, so I have to dig for it in European news or islamic twitter feeds. Cool. And it's great that they have condemned the terrorist attacks. Also cool. I thought they would like be "meh" at worst. I guess there's no reason to question religion, faith or even a specific stupid fucking holy book if they at least agree that shooting people is bad.

Well done.

This is what's known as a prejudice, as opposed to a criticism.

This is my point.

But the Klan is certainly a Christian organization, and one whose reign of terror lasted many decades in this country, and who many in the south still feel, well, "meh" about, as you put it. None of us think the Klan defines Christianity, though, do we?

I don't get that, but if I missed that it's on me.

Just a bit. I always thought of the Klan as an organization based on insane notions of race -- and clearly an organization that would make me opt out of the white race if possible. As far as my use of "meh" my sarcasm font must not work on all browsers.

Doesn't matter for me as I have opted out for far less.

And to clarify. I know muslims have condemned the attack. Duh. I want them to condemn and abandon the religion.

Looking for converts to your religious views, aye?

Sorry, I used to be an atheist, but then I realized all the shit being done in the name of atheism, from Stalin to Cambodia, and disavowed it.

I love when you call me a racist.

But I will say: It was good to see white southerners not only disavow the racism of Dylann Roof, but join in the call for removing the racist symbol that he worshipped.

He was drawing an analogy: I have asserted that, given that a number of people from very different countries and circumstances have been drawn into supporting violent and radical Islam, muslim leaders generally had a need to look at how Islam was being taught and speak out against the teaching that helps draw so many into committing or supporting such actions. Not because they "owe" this but because the muslims susceptible to being radicalized by the extremist forms of Islamic teaching aren't going to listen to me when I say "that's not Islam."

Thus, I must also believe that you are responsible for renouncing a black person's views. Because, y'know, Ben Carson advocates that what he believes is what black people should believe.

I'd entirely forgotten that you had pulled that all muslims need to take responsibility for acts by any bullshit. I was more ridiculing the current people preaching this idiocy on fox et al.

I trust by now most people actually following what is going on have realized that the boots on the ground actually fighting Isis are overwhelming Muslim, and we're really just providing air support for them. Asking the folks in the foxholes to repudiate the people they're shooting at....
