You don't buy my clients' product because you think there's something better on offer, fine, we're good. But I don't think I'm being a whiny-ass bitch by asking whether you really meant that you think I do a daily disservice to my clients or the public in the way I practice law. (Please understand that a certain disproportionality of anger in your posts has never been an effective way of telegraphing that you're joking.)

I say all of the above in the interest of repairing our relationship, not damaging it further.

In the interests of repairing our relationship, as you put it: I thought your comment, "people get the government that they ask for," was a really lame way of justifying an elected officials bad conduct. (You didn't watch the show, so you don't know what the conduct was -- but if that means you don't realize that your justification doesn't make any sense here, whose fault is that?)

Do I really think that you really believe that any corruption by an elected official is ok, because "people get the government that they ask for"? No. I thought you were being flip, and I flipped back. The extent to which my comment was serious is defined and limited by the extent to which your way of excusing the conduct in question was serious. I think that is little to zero, especially since you didn't even know what you were commenting on.

ETA: I see that Less has picked up this ball and run with it, in the manner of Forrest Gump (but without the people standing behind the endzone with the "STOP" signs). That's taking this way too seriously, though arguably you started off on that path. Let us drop this and go back to thinking of all the ways Hank should go fuck himself.

It is pleasing to the Great Spirit when we keep the old ways alive. {turns into eagle; flies away}

Fridays were so much simpler when people were satisfied with a clean, elegant "fuck you."

(2) People get the government they ask for. Whether it's also the government they deserve is too philosophical a question even for me. But at this point I hear anyone who says their government sucks in the same clinical way that an economist hears a consumer saying the price they just paid for something was "too high."

I haven't gotten the government I asked for.

You'll notice I used the plural construction "people get" in preference to the singular "a person gets" which is demonstrably false in almost every case.

There's joke about the Kochs or Bilderberg or Freemason's in there somewhere, but I'm feeling too lazy.

Atticus is the hero lawtalkers deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him, because he can take it, because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector, a dark knight.

I view him more as the ham to Hank's cheese.

How many people thought they were getting the governance we've received on the PB? Wonk himself censured.

Disgusting. Presumably, next you'll be describing yourself as the baguette.
