Question for the Experts

So, for a wedding gift, I plan on buying 6 gift certificates to 6 really nice restaurants, 3 in NY and 3 in LA for a couple who is bicoastal. New York I can cover. But I need help with LA. They live in Studio City, so I would like recommendations from anyone for places that aren't completely impossible to get to from there. Anyone? ncs?

Fun games this weekend. I don't get how you guys are so far out, although 3 games is, well 3 games, so maybe they rose beyond their normal play?

Yes. The attractions will be obvious and quickly realized. It is a fairy tale city on two levels. The river beds and old. low city, cutting around and about the newer, higher plateaus. Pull up a 7.5 minute topo map - really cool. Foodwise, it is totally cosmo, and has the most Michelin stars per capita than anywhere else in the world, but I wouldn't know because they are all closed forAugust. Drinkwise, the areas called the Grund and Clausen, and the Pyg in Clausen in particular.

Just don't go swimming in Denmark without a bathing suit.

Look, I appreciate pretension as much as the next guy, but I have to believe there are 3 good restaurants in Metro LA.

NCS will be a better source than me, because she dines more often on the Westside than I do (and probably dines better, for that matter.)

But one place I'd recommend is LA Farm, on Olympic.

Another is a French restaurant in Santa Monica, Melisse.

I'll send you other recs after some more thought.

How? Aging pitchers
and no lumber in line-up.
At least A-Rod's back.

Great idea, but Minneapolis and St Paul would be much more convenient.

I, for my part, do not find this to be true.

Playing with a triple A team with double A pitching means no consistency.

Out of curiousity and food-interest, which 3 are you picking in NY?
