Put aside the total lack of serious new content to admire the presentation qua presentation. You know, like a PLF post.

It was a fine link. Bravo, Atticus!

Take a commonplace, clean it and polish it, light it so that it produces the same effect of youth and freshness and originality and spontaneity as it did originally, and you have done a poet's job. The rest is literature.

Man, you really need to switch to boxers.

And with one pithy quip, the board was broken.

My boys need an apartment.

Usually, Atticus's links are pretty good, so I was a little disappointed in this green map of zip codes, and thought that I was missing something.

He made up for it with his Homecoming Election link, though...

Beckham reported to have claimed he intended to get booked against Wales

No shit. They need to start calling these qualifying games closer, and FIFA should have suspensions carry over to the next game in all leagues, or something.

http://edition.cnn.com/2004/SPORT/fo...eut/index.html

There has to be some real consequence for a foul that deliberate, even if it was perhaps a legitimate response to getting pounded by a Wales defender a few minutes after one of the best goals of his career.

That's what red cards are for.

I'm not a fan of the accumulted yellows rule--I'd eliminate it altogether. As it is, it creates too much caprice as to when the ultimate effects of a yellow card are felt.

They mostly come out at night, mostly.

I'm sitting here looking up my zipcode (whee.) and I can hear something either on the roof or in the attic. Either the big oak tree is dropping things on the roof or I have raccoons, squirrels, or "other"(!) living in my roof. I guess I could put some food up there and see if it disappears. On the slight chance it is PP, maybe I should bait with a burrito?

Actually, I thought about it some more, and he will probably get an additional suspension or something, which is probably appropriate. It's not like his foul was that bad, just deliberate. I am sure that, given Beckham's history (his famous ground-kick was an England game, too) the referee was aware that he was doing it intentionally. It just wasn't that serious of a foul. Just very, very, very late.

I'd like to nominate Hank for Homecoming Queen.
