I saw Stefan in the LAX American terminal Sunday morning. He was not on my plane to Cabo, nor was he, in the moment, being notably douchey.

So, I am sitting here in Cabo, watching Toy Story on TNT with my kids (yes, I know, you're jealous), and I think perhaps I just missed the patent douchey-ness. I looked up Stephan on Twitter (I'm watching Toy Story people!) and find this. https://mobile.twitter.com/topchefst...72253254651905 dialog with her https://mobile.twitter.com/jillrudis...55553390387200

That is pretty awesome, and decidedly less douchey.

I am just now returned from Cabo, after a 3-hour departure flight delay, and I declare American Airlines super-douchey, with or without Stefan, as a result of diminishing my vacation mellow.

Chile (Santiago and wine country)

Who has been? Anyone been to Easter Island? Recommendations in/around Santiago? In initial planning stages of big trip in November and I think Santiago is the place... Unless people want to convince me that other SA destinations are better? So far in SA I've only done Peru (which I loved).

Note: Will most likely be traveling alone for around 3 weeks. Don't know spanish (or portuguese for that matter for other SA destinations).

I've been to Santiago, Vina del Mar and Valparaiso. I was there in 2001 for a friend's wedding. Vina (beach community) is beautiful. Santiago is nice and cosmopolitan, but I didn't find it to be spectacular (smoggy due to its position in the valley). It reminded me of a European city. Valparaiso is really cool. Perched above the Pacific.

I'll be honest, I was with a group of high school friends who hadn't seen each other in a while. Meaning we didn't really do many touristy things and were drunk most of the time (we were in our mid/late 20s). We drank about five billion pisco sours.

It's great to travel that far and not get jet lag.

I've gotten a bunch of recommendations for Valparaiso. Definitely added to the list!

I enjoyed the Pisco Sours (hi, plf!) in Peru as well. But your story is not as good as my design school friend who ended up eloping to Vegas with a guy she met in Chile based (she claims) on overindulgence in the Pisco Sours. They are now divorced. But, hey, that brought her to the USA, so good on him...

Best freaking thing ever. I say after my trip around the globe earlier this year. The time change to Mumbai kicked my ass.
