Why does anyone need a reason to nuke Long Island or any other part of NY?

Isn't a lot of that likely explained by the ethnic/national extraction of the population in various places? As well as the recentness of their immigration from countries in which nutrition is likely not to be as good? Since I don't want to generalize like Paigow, I won't be more specific, but I have observed that person of some ethnic backgrounds tend, on average, to be shorter than others. If the short ones all end up in NYC (or "the NYC"), there's one explanation.

Well, the regional variation, yes. But not why men overall are so much taller than women overall. I don't think, for instance, that the Patch has a huge surplus of 6'2" Scandinavian men but no tall women, while NYC has a huge number of 4'6" Peruvian women but no short men. I be not at all surprised that average heights in the middle states were a good 2 inches taller than on the coasts, for both men and women. I am shocked at an average 6 inch height difference over the whole country.
People in NYC are freaking midgets. The sun never hits the pavement and it makes people stunted and unhealthy. Makes me feel at home.
