I go to games at MSU. I need to have alcohol drinks like 5 or 6 times a night. MSU doesn't serve alcohol drinks at its games. I know there are empty rooms in the arena- why can't i go in them to drink. please explain why setting aside a room for muslims to pray is different than a room for me to drink.

Well, for one, the state and the school have not expressly banned praying on campus (as they have the sale of alcoholic beverages, like every other university). You may have notice that MSU has a chaplin service (most likely) and perhaps even students centers for student of multiple faiths.

That said, if you would give more money to the scholarship fund, you could get access to the "club" room in which the beer if free, and all you can drink. At least that is the way it works in Minnesota.

2 things people know about me here- my wife, and hence my kids, Jewish. And son is a great b-ball player.

there is a thing called Macabee games. Jewish kids from around the country go to a few cities each summer for a Olympics type games. Sonny boy is on the Detroit team.

I take my son and his regular friends and teammates (not Jewish) to play in tournaments several weekends each summer. The coach of the Macabee teams hears and suggests that we take the team to a few. I tell him great and suggest some. the tournaments are Saturdays and Sunday- Jews who are strictly observant won't play ball on Saturday. There are no observent Jews on the team. Still the coach tells me that if he signed the team up, some senior people would give him grief for scheduling games on saturday EVEN THOUGHT NONE OF THE PLAYERS OR THEIR FAM?ILIES WOULD CARE-

I guess the Sidd/Adder answer would be to ask that we be scheduled for only Sunday games.- Aren't Christians supposed to resting then?

but weird thing- Coach just passed. He realized that the Jewish belief re. Saturday exercise required his team to not play in those tournies. he didn't think the tournies needed to change.

I've drank on Campus- i don't think your statement here is accurate. But more imporantly, are you saying the people of Michigan could vote to ban Muslims from praying in any public place? We have fucked with Gays and black people our last few elections- I'm sure the votes are there for a prayer ban. Would it stand up?

This is relevant how? First of all, dude's religion doesn't require him not to be out during the games. Second, he is willing to pray in whatever space he can find if the university says no (which they can do if they want). And finally, dude just asked if there was somepalce he could pray. Politely.

And, while we are sharing stories, when I played on the travelling basketball team in middle school, the most athletic player on the team (perhaps even one of the best) was a Mormom who wasn't really supposed to play on Sundays, when the later rounds of the tournaments were played. He had to decide whether to play or not. Most of the time, he did not. None of us disrespected whatever decision he felt was approriate.

You should read more carefully. I said the sale of alcohol was banned on campus, which I believe is an NCAA requirement (fucking NCAA), not that drinking on campus was illegal.

And no, I am not saying the people of Michigan could vote to ban praying in a public place. I am saying that your analogy is stupid as they can vote to ban the sale of alcohol, and they have.

That Mormon guy; he didn't ask that the Sunday games be rescheduled? he felt that if he were true to his religion he just wouldn't be able to show for them? Interesting.
