Ah. Forget about that. Right up there with the rumored Kramnick/Arnand affair of a few years back.

FWIW, imho, fyi, I still believe that if it wasn't for the arthritis thing Kramnick would have retaken the title from Anand in Bonn. ymmv.

Who is deader, Phil Hartman or Eddie Murphy? I miss both of them.

I didn't say equally, or by whatever percentage would be "equal", and I didn't count, but what struck me as different in the two years was age. still, it was my first time in the real South and i remember being struck by the racial mixture of the crowd*.

and after the second year, when he won, Masters' tickets became impossibly expensive, plus largely unscalpable**, so I can't take you.

*of course i was there for practice rounds, so who knows what the crowd looked like Thursday.
** that year a ticket wholesaler that had already sold 200 ticket packets lost his source of tickets to a higher paying scalper- the first guy killed himself Masters' week- big scandal. Augusta is all about propriety, and made it harder to transfer tickets the next year.

[confidential to hank] Phew! Thanks. I got worried for a second that you might reduce my annual BFF ticket allocation. [/confidential to hank]

WTH? When their father was reading the list to me, I laughed at "a cape" and asked whether it was for his evenings out at the OP-era -- such as La Boheme. He thought maybe he was going for the Monopoly guy look.

It's hard to be Batman without a cape.

I probably already posted this. But Eddie Murphy is alive. He just won't come out to play.

I saw him on Conan and he was really fucking funny when he was just talking and interacting. It's the material that he chooses to do and the realization of what worked best for him with the masses throughout his career (much like Deniro with that stupid Analyze This face he always does and Pacino's Scent of a Woman forced and effected voice inflections that he substitutes for acting now) combined with the desire to deliver exactly that and only that. He just gravitates to his go-to crap schtick now, written by people who probably don't know him or write specifically to his go-to crap schtick. Once you're that big, you are an investment responsible for delivering exactly what the studio expects.

He should go back to doing some stand up and finding some really good young writers (like Keenan Ivory Wayans when he wrote all Eddie's early stuff) to help him with it.

But I'm with you. I miss him too.

I've learned (from experience), that you're happier to get it once you've waited a really long time.

It was included because it cuts the exact other way. All things being equal when it comes to speaking skills, partners assume everyone at this firm speaks properly. But when it comes to work, they don't always assign things the same based on the color of one's skin.

Someone else help me out. How could anyone get to wherever Fugee is in the above post based on what I wrote and its context?

Sorry, the sentence I quoted seemed so out of left field from the rest of what you posted I didn't get it. Now that you explained it, I see where I missed the meaning.
