BTW, I think it is both true that this will be the most progressive government the US has had, and also true that unless something awesome happens in Georgia, McConnell and the GOP will block progressive legislation.

Split govt is awesome. It’s unity. The guy everyone thought never belonged there is gone. In his place is a moderate. Nobody gets to radically change anything. Social policy is liberal, fiscal policy is a continuation of business and growth friendly tax initiatives.
Were progressives to take control of all three beaches, we’d have what we had in Trump’s first two years in reverse.
The system is built with multiple branches to ensure against it being overtaken by radicals. I know some Wall Street folks thought a blue wave would be great for the economy, but that’s just wrong. It’d be great for certain groups on Wall Street who’d profit from bigger stimulus and invested in industries that’d profit from progressive policies. It’d be a nightmare for the rest of the economy, which would tank.
The only awesome result in GA is a very slim retention of GOP senate control - enough to remind MCConnell he’s on thin ice and had better do some deals with Biden that help people beyond his own donors.
