i was in Seoul for a quick business trip. it's very alcohol friendly. the 7-11 sell whiskey as an example.

so on Saturday, a very hot day, I go to see the professional baseball team. and I get in line for a beer. of course, a weekend trying to see as much as possible doesn't suggest too much alcohol consumption, especially saturday early afternoon, right.

But it's hot and the first beer goes down quickly. so I get back in line. at the front of the line i realize I'm in a no-alcohol line. I wandered around for awhile until I realize there is no alcohol line. they only sell non-alcohol.

they must not be able to deal with baseball for some reason because it is booze friendly everywhere else.

I don't think so, she doesn't seem remotely funny. And looks don't count.

In unrelated but similar news, Larry Ellison is bidding for the Golden State Warriors. I swear, it's like that guy derives power from people's hatred. He's like that river of ooze in Ghostbusters 2.

Odd, then, that he's bidding for an asset that inspires indifference.

I can't believe I missed the big Flower/Hank soccer bitchfest.

I have changed my position on the desireability of general acceptance of soccer by the Great American Public. After watching some of the fratboy meatheads who turned out for the US games, I long for the days when futbol was a sport enjoyed in the US exclusively by effete cider-drinking snobs with European pretensions.

The rest of you can carry on pissing on each other at whatever it is they're calling Giants Stadium now. Don't bother with soccer -- too much diving (right!), the refs suck (too true!), there's not enough scoring (fuckin A!), what the hell is that guy with the long hair doing running around like a big gaylord (I know, totally!), etc., etc.

He's proposed building a new arena next to his house? Or disclosed that he's buying it solely to generate huge tax losses? Or that Jesse Jackson just made the proposition of owning an NBA team sound especially worthwhile?
