I was going to let this go because if you don't get it, then you don't get it.

But installations are important. Public art is important. And I firmly believe that art makes the world a better place.

I believe that Dan Havel and Dean Ruck's Inversion piece made the city of Houston a better place for the four months that it was up.

I believe that it is a national tragedy for the country of Venezuela that the public art pieces of Jesus-Rafael Soto have been destroyed under the regime of Hugo Chavez.

I believe that large scale public installations help make art accessable to more people, make art something that can be enjoyed or rejected by everyone. I believe that your disdainful opinion of the Cristo is evidence of that interaction.

I believe that support needs to go to people like Regina Silvera, William Pope L., Andrea Zittel, The Art Guys, and anyone else who does installations.

Given that it's in Detroit, I'd say it's appropriate.

How to get rid of a dead animal?

So my mother has this old mink that she no longer wants and has been hiding from onlookers for fear of reprimand. What's the best way to get rid of it other than throwin it in the garbage?

At first glance, I thought this was a photo from New Orleans.

And, while I understand your point, I don't even think you could justify this.

I think even Hank would agree that's too much for him.

Cool. How'd you find a pic without snow in the background?

You can chop the arms off it and sew it into a smashing throw rug for the foyer. Your guests will think you most prosprus!

PS: I can't help you with the rash.

Finally, someone to blame for the Irish Curse!

Reuters
  • DUBLIN (Reuters) - Scientists in Ireland may have found the country's most fertile male, with more than 3 million men worldwide among his offspring.

The scientists, from Trinity College Dublin, have discovered that as many as one in twelve Irish men could be descended from Niall of the Nine Hostages, a 5th-century warlord who was head of the most powerful dynasty in ancient Ireland.

His genetic legacy is almost as impressive as Genghis Khan, the Mongol emperor who conquered most of Asia in the 13th century and has nearly 16 million descendants, said Dan Bradley, who supervised the research.

"It's another link between profligacy and power," Bradley told Reuters. "We're the first generation on the planet where if you're successful you don't (always) have more children."

I kinda doubt this fellow had the curse.

I also doubt this guy was a hostage anywhere very long.

Shit. Why can't I have a cool apellation like "Niall of the Nine Hostages"?

Best place to get rid of it would be in the woods. I think you should take it out there yourself, as a favor to her. But make sure you wear it. I wouldn't want you to catch cold or anything.

In order to find a good spot to get rid of it, you should probably hunch over a bit. And since there will be lots of ticks and mosquitos, you should probably dart here and there in an effort to avoid them.

Now and then, be absolutely still and stick your head up to make sure you can hear what's going on around you -- you know, just to be safe.

And since you're going to be out there, can you get rid of my hat too? You should probably wear it to keep your hands free in case you come across any pretty flowers you might want to pick.

Good luck.

More children = more success? Nice.

Goodwill? Salvation Army? Shelter? Church?

Or if she wants something from it, put it on consignment somewhere.
