I agree with Hank. And with Slave, to a lesser extent -- he's right that they should've been busted for causing a disturbance in an airport or on a flight. I doubt that they were doing a practice run, but at the very least they were making a scene intended to disrupt a flight and make passengers very nervous.

Also, I hate babaganoush. On the other hand, my eggplant parmesan kicks ass.

People in Hawaii are working on that. I'm not kidding -- I went to a conference (read: Boondoggle) and there was a speaker on the subject of "killer asteroids."

Apparently, we are not putting enough money into his project.

Which means either that they've been melting, or someone has been chipping away at them (maybe they needed ice cubes for a really big party???)

What is the difference between an asteriod and a meteor? Because I'm pretty comfortable that in the 2D world, we are pretty close to eradicating asteroids with our tiny triangular space ships. That project has been in the works for at least 20 years.

You are right to be skeptical. The hurricane connection is driven by pop science and really has no backing. But don't tell Al Gore.

See number 50, especially. , but there are several other studies on the list that are pretty interesting.

The NOAA guys tend to do reasonably good meterology.
