Oh, and a big 2 to Penske on Pok Pok. I want some Vietnamese fish sause wings. Now.

WHAT!!! This is an outrage. When you say "at least by the dude", I assume that means that they can touch you. HJ in the champagne room?

Apologies to Ironwuss...er...weed

I keep seeing dubliner men (well, young men, boys really) ordering bottled cider and having the barman serve it with ice.

Granted, some if it is strawberry lime flacored cider.

And with that, I'm off for a pre-dinner pint.

Anyone else watching Top Chef?

I caught up on the entire season of Top Chef last night (including last night's episode), and I found myself underwhelmed.

I knew, going in, that there was no way that they could replicate the quality of chefs that they had last season. But this season seems to just suck. I think part of it was that there were so many good chefs last time around that the silly dramas took a back seat to the good cooking. The chefs seemed to respect each other and there wasn't much in the way of petty bullshit aside from some isolated bickering.

I also watched Top Chef Masters, and those guys treated each other with respect AND were awesome cooks.

This season seems to be drama laden, and worse, the chefs don't seem all that strong as a group. I'd heard that the only real complaint from last season was that the chefs might have been too good, too innovative, made food that most of the viewers were pulling dictionaries out and doing google searches on to recognize. Did Bravo dumb this season down, or were my expectations just too high?

An outrage, indeed. It's better than it used to be, when "air dances" were the norm. At the right place, your bachelor can at least have a hot naked girl grinding on him. But that's about as far as it goes. And it depends a lot on where you go.

I feel like I'm taking a deposition.

And where should we go?

3 on Pok Pok. And give yourself 2 hours (or more) for Powell's Books.

Are we sure Ironwees (iPhone changed that to urinated originally) isn't in dublin? I just saw someone passed out on the pavement with his prick out.

Yes. I find myself wishing for the return of the creepy Volt brothers, Kevin and Jen. They were just all so good and professional. I totally wanted to eat Kevin's food last season, all season, even though I couldn't smell it or look at it other than how it was presented on TV. This season -- so totally meh. I do not need to know whether someone had crabs either.

Speaking of Top Chef, my boyfriend and I and some friends had a fancy dinner the other day and we were served an amuse-bouche with lentil foam. I thought immediately of Marcel. Needless to say, lentil does not work as a foam. But the meal itself was top-notch. One of the best meals I have had since moving to NYC. The restaurant is "Dovetail" and the decor is late 80's Detroit-area Marriot conference room. But the food rocks.

Hotel Vintage Plaza.

Food:

Go to Pok Pok

Maybe the Acropolis for steak and strippers.

VooDoo donuts for the maple bacon thing.

a cena-nice little italian restaurant, drop my nickname (the real one).

If you like hot sweaty dancing with cute latinas, go to Mambo Lounge.

maybe hit the Willamette for some wine tasting.

That's all I got.

No Seattle?

No Jakes?

You can do much, much better. Jake's is part of the McCormick's chain. A home-grown chain, but a chain nonetheless. Good happy hour menu, though.

Drink some cider, take your pants off and stop acting like a goddamn yank tourist. And throw me a few euro the next time you see me on O'Connell Street, you tight bastard.
