She would walk with ~1% (max)? That's why I question it. If you told be $25mm, $50mm, sure, that might be enough to get it over with easily. But she ain't walking for $9mm or less (unless the support agreement is *huge*, or if there weren't kids) without causing him some real pain first.

Uh, for the record, and as much as I love Barely (i) although she was in my bed once, it was while she was napping with Neighsayer - whilst we were all drinking in the other room, and (ii) johnson jokes? About me? Dude, I don't even post anymore.

Poor DTB?!? Au contraire! Now that Lou Gehrig is dead, I'm the luckiest person in the world.

(Especially because I have never lived in the 'burbs -- and never will, dammit!)

Besides, rusted-out vehicle carcasses on cinder blocks add a decorative je-ne-sais-quoi to the grounds.

?????? Okay, Tiger, how did you overcome your compulsion to cheat, even when you were happy with your SO?

On his side of the equation, he would probably prefer the marriage to continue also, because from everything else we know about the guy, he'd rather be thought of as boring, and after the week he's had he probably would put up with a bunch more private intramartial shit than years of "Who's Tiger Dating Now?" tabloid bullshit. Evidence of this is that he didn't burn her on the DV charge -- his instinct was to make up a story that his wife hadn't assaulted him. Add to this the fact that if she got upset at him for recent cheating, it must mean that she's emotional enough about it to slash at his face rather than calling a celeb divorce lawyer the next day and putting his shit on the curb. Whatever state their marriage was in, it's probably strengthened in the past week due to their common enemy, the press.

All told, I handicap a Tiger divorce at 20%.

tl;dr, but I got the gist of it and I'm with Atticus. This is a reasonable prediction that I can get behind.

the pre-nup is being rewritten to go away if they're together in two years. the divorce happens before then, quietly. a billionaire that seems that driven to play the field is not sitting at home. e.g. the Donald.

I was one of the cheatinest cheaters that ever cheated. Once I decided to stop, I stopped. Found the right person. Don't want to fuck it up. Wouldn't want to hurt her. No real desire to. Keep myself out of situations where temptation abounds. Include her in things I do as much as I can. Got old. Wife has a zero tolerance policy. Would actually get hit with a 9-iron tryin' to get away, 'cause I ain't got no car.

8 years ago, I would have said I would always cheat and would have meant it. And I would have agreed with you that cheaters are just built that way. But, shit. Motherfuckers can change.

Strange how this is the case for most undesirable behaviors. Too bad the deciding is so hard.

Hard at first, but now it's pretty easy.

I guess what he's trying to say is that if he can change, and you can change, everybody can change.

Nope. Not necessarily. I have no idea what he's like. I think you should go with what you want. If you can't trust him anymore, there is absolutely no point in getting back together with him. Plus, if it's the same guy that bought a dog when you didn't want one, moved in with you because he had nowhere else to go, got you knocked up (not that the outcome of that was a bad thing), was a recovering alcoholic and had you not drinking too, then I think you should tell him to pound sand.* But I also think you should take my advice and toss it on the pile of shit you ignore, along with all the rest of the advice you get on how to live your life.**

Should you look to him for advice or his wife?

Her policy seems [better] to work very well.
