I keep opposing counsel in the same cage that Todd kept Jesse.

Let's see if that bites HIM in the ass next episode.

That was one of the grimmest hours of (fictional) television ever.

New Mattress

Current innerspring is starting to sag. Should new bed be memory foam or innerspring?

I generally wake up with a sore lower back (but I've never been diagnosed with any injury there), which requires about ten minutes of stretching. I slept in a Westin last week (I'm a Marriott guy) and woke up without pain both mornings. Great bed. I know the Westin beds are sold at Nordstrom, but I'm told memory foam is really good for lower back pain. Trying beds out is obviously something we will do, but I'm not sure how effective it is in determining whether you're going to like a bed long-term. I went through several pillows thinking they were great when I initially tested them but were terrible to sleep on for long periods.

I've been studying Native American culture recently. Time was the tribe would tell you you are past your usefulness and that you should just leave the tepee, walk out into the bush and die. Thinking outside the box here.

At least wait until you've got a post that is somewhat on-topic before you try new material. If I had asked about possibly taking an in-house position, this would have been acceptable. It wouldn't have been funny, but it would have been recognized as potentially relevant.

I've had a memory foam mattress for about two years and I like it fine. I prefer firm mattresses and got the firmest memory foam available. Previously I had a futon with springs and foam inner core which I liked but co-sleepers complained. I am a side sleeper and very occasionally wake up with a stiff lower back from sleeping on the memory foam. I think it's because you end up in an indentation in the foam. Flipping from side to side requires more effort than on a conventional mattress because you have to pull yourself out of the trough that's developed.

Over the weekend, I slept on an extra soft, old conventional mattress in a relative's guest bedroom. That mattress has the same problems as the the memory foam but amplified. When I stay there, I often wake up with a stiff lower back. The best night's sleep I've had on that mattress was once when we ended up putting the mattress on the floor.

For sore lower back, the new mattress ought to be a japanese sleeping mat. Really, try it some time. I will sometimes travel with one.

I've also found that the beds in use in some nordic countries, which are really just padded boards, are preferrable. Memory foam is just OK in comparison to these two.

I just went through this process. One, avoid all the name manufactuers such as Sealy, Serta and Simmons. Crap designed to fail. Memory foam is meant to be good for backs, but I don't like the feel and I am a furnace and foam seals you in and runs hot. I ended up going with Nest Bedding and am happy so far. Check them out online.

I bought a latex mattress 12 years ago and, to this day, it is the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. I love it. I'd give you the brand (I think it's a Sealy Newport Beach), but it has since been discontinued. I'd recommend you find some full latex mattresses and test them out before you buy anything.
