Most other things I think are must-haves have been included here, but here are a few more: 1. Glengary Glen Ross 2. Homicide (the TV series, now on DVD through about the fifth season of so) 3. Oz (the tv series, now on DVD through about the fifth season or so) 4. Reservoir Dogs 5. Top Gun (a guilty pleasure for a Tom Cruise hater like me) |

Late to the Party Late to the Party, but it looks like my list will be a bit different anyway. I'm more of a classics/noir fan, and many of the movies on other peoples lists (like the Princess Bride) I feel no need to own because it's on my however-many-hundred-channels of television so often. My list: (1) Night of the Hunter; a classic and a great one to pop in when you can't sleep at night. (2) Naked Kiss; to hell with horror movies - this one should will give you nightmares for months yet also make you chuckle to yourself. (3) Werner Herzog's Nosferatu - Isabelle Adjani and Klaus Kinski; again, everything you want at 2 am. (4) Hotel New Hampshire - a little bio about my family, with a 20 something Jodie Foster to boot. Ah, Jodie! (5) Smooth Talk. Laura Derns is great, and Treat Williams is incredible. (6) (Because just five isn't possible) Rebel Without a Cause. Seminal and Defining. (7) (Because you can't forget Brando) Apocolypse Now. The Horror! The Horror! (BTW, not sure all of these are out now on DVD - some may still only be available in Video, and I think my Naked Kiss is actually a bootleg.) |

Kevin Bacon and Mickey Rourke meet the rich girl who says some smart ask crap and rides away- Bacon: Ever get the sense there's stuff going on you just don't know about? Your list of great scenes is good, but if you watched it again you'd double it. Quote:

DVDs Five DVDs, trying not to repeat the obvious ones: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly Better Off Dead Gross Point Blank La Femme Nikita The Pink Panther Bonus TV series: The Muppet Show Car Chases: The chase scene in the Bourne Identity is very similar to Ronin in style and setting. Bullitt and Ronin are definitely tops. The Italian Job(s) are good too, and it's very interesting to watch them back to back (start with the new one, or I think you'll be disappointed it's not as quirky as the original). But the movie that has the car chase the most above the rest of the movie in quality is The Peacemaker (George Clooney, Nicole Kidman). Bad, bad movie. Great car chase with Clooney beating the crap out of a giant Mercedes. |
