He routinely got nailed by clients for spending too much time reviewing faxes that were no more than thank you notes, and for billing for too much time on phone calls for minor stuff like rescheduling meetings.
You just outed yourself - you work for me. Now stop posting and get back to work.

And I trust we're in agreement that no one needs to know that I told you I loved your ass at the Xmas party. It was the red wine talking.

May I say that she is not quite right on about Curb? I never thought of Larry as a misogynist so much as just a realist who calls it like he sees it?

and she calles Carrie a "hardened spinster". http://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/02/ar...on/02TVWK.html

are you objecting to the redundancy of the phrase?

Atkins

Sort of on a dare, today is my first day on the Atkins plan. I expect this plan will be difficult for me since I was a vegetarian for six years (though no longer) and not a big meat eater. I am generally speaking a healthy eater (Interestingly enough, it is the drinking that keeps me from Tara Reid hipbones. Not that I want Tara Reid hipbones, but anyway.).

Anyone done this? Advice for food that can be eaten at work? I just don't see myself with beef jerky, though apparently I will during the next several weeks. I am a huge fruit and cereal person, which led to the dare.

I think the most difficult will be giving up caffiene and alcohol.

Giving up fruit and cereal is sad, but caffeine and alcohol? That's morally wrong. Dr. Atkins must be in hell, surrounded by cranky, humorless people with halitosis.

This is more unhealthy and dangerous than the whole "gorge yourself with protein" gimmick. Why don't you just give up sex while you're at it?

Honestly, I don't think I could do that. Maybe "sex with ____" or "sex on Tuesdays," but not sex in general. That's just silly.

I could happily give up the healthy stuff, but alcohol is just plain mean. I see they're advertising "low carb" beer now which may be an alternative for Atkins folks--it may well taste like Bud Light though in which case it's better to ignore the plan entirely.

Of course advice on dodging parts of the diet is premature, so just remember the rest of this at some point down the road.

It is really hard to stick pure Atkins for any length of time for most people. No pasta is what kills me, no sandwichs makes lunch tough, etc.

What is easier is changing your eating choices, ie usually avoiding pasta, not eating from the bread basket at restaurants, etc. , but occasionally breaking down and ordering pasta, bread etc.

And, for what its worth, I was able to drop weight without dropping caffiene or alcohol (I did stop drinking beer).

I've had both Michelob Ultra and whatever the name for the Rolling Rock version is (pre-Atkins). Both are "good", though I like light beer and dislike what most people call "good" beer so YMMV.

I don't think I've gone two weeks (or hell, more than four days) without alcohol (or sex, for that matter) in eight years.

Can't you replace the jerky with carrots or an apple? Surely Atkins doesn't shun simple carbs? If it does, good luck getting up in the morning...
