I'm sorry to inform you, but queen on the throne today is Elizabeth II, not Elizabeth I.

I don't recall either commercial. I can't stand the Emerald Nuts commercials. They're good ('cause now I know what Emerald Nuts are), but incredibly annoying.

I'm not going to blame Mariano for last night. Gordon blew that on his own. You ask too much when you expect Mariano to strike out the side when you bring him in with runners on first and third and no outs. He got out of that while only giving up a sac fly. Wow, indeed.

I think the Yankees re-energize at home. Although, I wonder what Schilling has. I wouldn't put it past Francona to bring Schilling in at 80% because (i) he thinks it will lift the team and (ii) who else is he going to start?

Either way, this is how it should be. A knock-down, drag-out, dirty fucking fight to the end. A sweep would have been great, but a close, hard-fought series is what it's all about.

What does this mean? That "question" is now a synonym for "ask"? That this happened when Lizzy II ascended to the throne? And shouldn't the above more correctly read "I'm sorry to inform you that the queen on the throne today is Elizabeth II, not Elizabeth I"? I question you what part of speech prerogative is. Has everything been translated into Elven, or is this some other fake language that you are all using?

I also like the one with the guy who goes nocturnal to save on his bill, especially the part where he's taken over a fence by an attacking guard dog. Good times.

Yeah, I know. However, the haiku form doesn't seem to have a whole lot of room for nuance. (The real answer is that the game went on for so freaking long after that that I forgot that Rivera was kind of hung out to dry. I just remember that the run came in while he was on the mound. Sorry, Mariano.)

80% is generous. His tendon is flopping around like a wet noodle. As one of Big Ed's customers put it yesterday, it is an act of faith (in the religious sense) to think that Schilling will give them any quality innings. I wonder if we will we see Derek Lowe or Wakefield before the end of the first.

Pray for rain if you want to see Game 7. And I agree that the heartbreak of almost coming back, instead of being swept, is much more in the Red Sox oeuvre.

Schilling pitching tonight makes me very nervous. This is not the time of year to be experimenting. Then again, is there anybody else left onthe pitching staff with more than 3 innings in their arm?

The Sox need to raise our hopes before smashing them. That's what it's like being a Sox fan, we come soooooo close and then pffft it's over and we're left mumbling into our plastic cups of Sam Adams little snippets about 'next year', 'lousy umpires' and 'fucking Yankees'.

If we have to lose in the ALCS it better be to the Yankees. Playing the Twins just wouldn't have been the same win or lose. The only way to get this monkey off our back is go through New York. Hopefully Game 6 will be another battle. I'd love to see Game 7, obviously not for the same reason as Thurgreed.

Wakefield. But do you continue to leave Varitek in to catch him in a close game?

Good point. The yankees were inches away from winning the game on 4 passed balls (and a walk, but not really). That would have been a classic Red Sox way to lose.

If Francona wants to use him for more than an out or two, Mirabelli should catch. I held my breath too often last night.

Mirabelli should have been in from the first pitch. Mussina owns Varitek. If Wake throws one more knuckle that Varitek drops, Francona gets stoned (and not in a good way).

Why is Damon still leading off?

Why is Bellhorn even playing?

Is Tom Gordon cooked?

It's gonna be fun.

Oh please. Question is a totally different word, you catty little freak. It's like an expressing doubt thing. Question doesn't have an object when used like ABBA was using it. You have to ask a person, whereas people were just saying, hey, I don't agree that low-rise pants are flattering to everyone. They weren't asking, "ABBA, are low-rise pants really flattering to everyone?"

You are so stupid with your stirring up of useless dissent. And if you start getting really cold in your office, don't look at me and my new portable heater from Bed Bath & Beyond. I'm sure it's not my thermostat that's making your office cold.
