It's been a truly wonderful, highly enjoyable run. I've had some of the most fun exchanges I've had anywhere - and I've had many - right here.

But I can't, and I won't, find myself bored. And bored is exactly what we'll all become, terminally, if we degrade to a circular firing squad of moral scowls... if we become more interested in drawing the boundaries of what one is allowed to do, say, or think, rather than having an open back and forth.

There's nothing less interesting than a deeply offended person.

It's just not fun to play the contrarian anymore. Perhaps I should expect it. The election of that clown has made us a deeply self-righteous and bitterly divided culture.
