Exactly -- Told you America was stoopid. We saw it before with Carmen hanging around far too long b/c of the Mormon bloc voting early and often. Virtually everybody who watches thinks Ruben's going to win, so they figure why vote? Now they will. FOX will find a way to manufacture drama where there is not.

I hate to use the term silent majority in this context, but seriously, who cares so much that they are really going to take the time to vote, much less repeatedly, but a very vocal and partisan few, (proud Marines -- or something like that).

Sorry, I never learned how to make a penis throb.

Also, taking a U-turn midpost, I went back to the archives to find a post I made after the AI wildcard selection show. Tooting my own horn a bit, here were my picks:
----------------------------
"So handicapping it out, I'd put the odds at:

Joshua Marine: 2-1
Ruben Studdard: 5-2
Clay Aiken: 7-2 (keep singin' Elton, boy)
Corey "Jackson": 5-1
Kimberly Caldwell: 5-1
Other Kimberly: 7-1

I don't think that anyone else has a serious chance of winning. I think first to go will be Ricky "Hercules Hercules", Julia DiMato (whose sympathy vote has probably vanished by now), or Trenyce, who reminds me of a Pointer Sister, and not in a good way.
------------------------
Obviously the odds on Ruben, Clay and Kim would be lower now, but for having set this line when there were still 12 finalists, I'd say that was pretty good.

That's a good questions, which leads me to wonder whether any of the people on this board who watch AI have ever voted. I, for one, have not. Even though I've been tempted at times.

Yuck.

She is going downhill. I've never thought she was that great but there she looks downright dowdy.

You know who looks consistently good, and who seems to have quite on bit on the ball is Mandy Moore. Can't think of anything she sings, but as a spokesperson/host she does a good job.
How could you forget her breakout hit: I'm a fine piece of jailbait and I want str8 to do very bad things to me

Or her other one:

Please str8 come over tonight and do everything you did to me last night, and Ima invite my twin sister along

She also had a big hit with "Candy," but the other ones are much much better.

I am always moved to vote at inappropriate times, such as last night. But I will probably vote next week. I am too emotionally invested in Clay not to.

Good point, that is why I stopped being blonde. Damn stalker paparazzi.

For whatever reason, I do not view Mandy as the type of jailbait one would want to do the sex to. She seems like the type of girl you would keep as your girlfriend to later marry but screw around on with Xtina.

I used to be a Mandy.

Never have. Doubt I ever will. I started watching the show with my daughter last year. She's closer to the core demographic than I. Would I watch otherwise? Depends.

Weird thing is, in both seasons I didn't really start watching until the finalist round, even though many people have told me that the entertainment value of the preliminaries is so much greater, what with the really horrible singers and no-holds-barred evaluations from Simon the Black.

My daughter was much more interested in voting last year, until she found out that she had to spend an inordinate amount of time hitting redial just to register one vote. She has not asked to vote this year, so we generally just evaluate performances among ourselves.

I've watched both seasons from the very beginning and last week was the first time I was motivated to vote b/c I hated Carmen so much and didn't want to see Kim Locke go before her. But after hitting "redial" for forty-five minutes and failing to get through a SINGLE time to either Kim, Clay or Ruben's line, I decided that there are better uses for my time. Fox needs to spring for more phone lines -- they brag about the number of votes they generate but they would be able to brag about many times that amount if people could get through more often. cheapasses.

Anyway, while I really wanted the constipated marine to be sent packing, I'm not sorry to see Trenyce go. She never seemed to develop her own style and spent most of her performances imitating Whitney, Celine or, on Tuesday's show, Tina Turner. And it was annoying to hear her refer to herself as a "diva" over and over again -- hon, don't you have to actually accomplish something before you can be a diva? I mean shouldn't you have released one measly single, at the very least before you can claim diva status?

I haven't voted yet, but next week I will vote for Ruben, Clay, and Kimberley. I figure that one set of votes for each of those three equals one vote against Josh.

I have voted when Rickey looked to be on the line and when Trenyce did a couple of weeks ago. I did not vote last night.

I call after 24 and I have never had a problem getting through.
