Ultimate Fighter

Is anyone else watching this? Am I the only one that thinks Rousey is bat-shit crazy? I thought I'd be routing for her team, but I have to admit, Miesha Tate won me over and not solely because she's smoking fucking hot.

I agree with you almost completely. Rousey annoys the shit out of me, though I think she's a much better fighter than Meisha.

The "almost" is that I've watched enough of Rousey's fights that this is not too big a surprise -- she always has the exagerrated scowl and that general attitude. I thought it might just be her pre-fight mindset but clearly it isn't. I am surprised, though, at how she comes off as a whiny, oversensitive bitch.

school tours

Did anyone here attend a huge prep school in the ISL? I'm visiting schools now with my son, and the one we're touring today is jaw-dropping. It's like a large university. Even my too-cool for everything teenager is wide-eyed. And we live in an area that has an embarrassment of prep schools, so it's not as though we're uunfamiliar with the concept.

geezis!

So, nothing from the client yet, but the former colleague I mentored finally responded.

In related problems, one of my LinkedIn connections is a poster. (Former poster, I think, but who knows?) I just don't remember what her** moniker is/was.

Finally (and not relatedly), if two sisters (Tegan and Sara, the Nields) are good, three (Haim) must be good, too, right? Flower?

*Apologies. Couldnt think of a fitting song lyric. I'll try harder next time.

** Come on. If it was a dude, why would I care?

ISL? What's that?

I think that schools (private ones) have been pouring money into facilities like crazy all over, so I'm not surprised. Even here, the local Catholic high school looks completely different now then it did when I took Mary Alice O'Malley to the junior prom.

Independent School League (I assume). I'm surprised that one of these schools had so much more overwhelming facilities than most of the others (maybe the more urban ones, like BB&N and Roxbury Latin, don't have quite the palaces of their boarding brethren).

And, yes, unlike large colleges which compete to have the largest endowment rather than, say, spending the money on students, high schools actually seem to use their endowments for the campus. Plus, it's a lot cheaper to get a gym named after you at a prep school than in college, for all those hedge fund managers who didn't strike it quite as big as Cohen.

No. I toured a few with my kid but because I am a lowly plaintiffs' lawyer opted for public school and a house rather than prep school and a box in the street.

My kids have done summer programs at a couple, and I've had family go to a couple more, though I went to a dump of a little school near you (but we had a zoo!).

Forget the physical plant, though. What will matter is class size. Well, that and how much cover there is near the dormitory windows.

I was Not Clear - I don't remember the Infirm/LT moniker of one of my LinkedIn connections.

(Or maybe I am whiffing at a joke about my age and/or memory?)

I don't get giving money to have a gym named after you. Grandpa Canaday asked for a dorm.
