Independent School League (I assume). I'm surprised that one of these schools had so much more overwhelming facilities than most of the others (maybe the more urban ones, like BB&N and Roxbury Latin, don't have quite the palaces of their boarding brethren).

And, yes, unlike large colleges which compete to have the largest endowment rather than, say, spending the money on students, high schools actually seem to use their endowments for the campus. Plus, it's a lot cheaper to get a gym named after you at a prep school than in college, for all those hedge fund managers who didn't strike it quite as big as Cohen.

Yes, Independent School Leaue. I live in the area of the Founders Leaague, which has its share of fancy-pants places, but the facilities at Exeter were just jaw-dropping. We also went to Andover and Middlesex, whose facilities were amazing, but they just didn't strike me as OTT as Exeter's.

Baird School. A bunch of runny-nosed snots in tweed jackets all studying to be George Bush.

Room/Board is only $47k at Exeter. That's Hank's tip at Steak n Shake.

Why is she giving up on Choate RH? I understand her bloodline might not be what they'll looking for but I could champion the lad in.

I hear the apartments on 96th and Park are nice.

I don't get this at all. Is there an apartment building there called Exeter or something? Or do you mean that for the cost of three years at a fancy-pants prep school (Junior is applying for 10th grade), one could purchase an apartment on 96th and Park?

Forget the physical plant, though. What will matter is class size. Well, that and how much cover there is near the dormitory windows.

The zoo is still there, as you probably know. We toured the school today. I'd rather he stay closer to home, so perhaps he'll wind up there. Or, if he doesn't get in anywhere, he'll go to the really crappy, in-danger-of-losing-its-accredidation public school.

It was a nice little dump in its way. The zoo is cool, and doesn't stop being cool. Any campus where you can wander around with a monkey or a hawk on your shoulder isn't all bad.

But you do realize if he did, we might have to hang together at some school event. Maybe I'll try to make it for the big annual fox hunt.

So jaw-dropping that they're too good for the ISL.
