Is Unrule anything like "Unruhe," which was one of the best X-Files episodes ever? (Please let it be noted that I stopped watching X-Files before it became uncool to watch X-Files).

To change the subject, today I was out and about and encountered an annoying couple whose son was named Canyon. I have a really disgusting wisecrack in mind about their inspiration for the name, but it would work better if he had been an unusually big kid.
There was a Canyon who was one of the semi-finalists on American Juniors. He was very blond and 70's teen-idol-y. I think he did not make the final 10, probably because he looked too much like AJ Melendez, who also did not make the band. Nobody cares who made the band, anyway, except reality-tv-minutae-ists like me, and even I can't remember the name of any of them except maybe there was a Tammy, Tammy's sister, a tall girl, Danielle, and a little black kid named Chauncey? Ah fuck it, I don't care. Ryan Malcolm was robbed on World Idol, and Mr. Gap Tooth Bono-sound-a-like can suck it.

Since I dump at least 3 times a day, that would be a problem.

This may be among the many reasons why I don't travel --going a week or two without "going" can get uncomfortable.
Me, I'd rather take vacations, keep my job, and in the worst case, squat an inch or two above the McDonald's crapper and fire away.

SnoopDog says buy a Nokia

So I'm watching the Sugar Bowl half time show, and it occurs to me, could Snoop Dog sell out any more? But now I'm thinking, can a rapper ever really sell out? Or rather, isn't selling out what rap is all about. For a genre that is "all about the Benjamines," in which prestige is directly related to the amount of bling bling one can hang around one's neck and/or park in the driveway, is there anything that can be considered too much?

'Cause I think the multiple kitchy commercials topped with the half-time music video for a custom written song featuring lots of Nokia products being used by Snoop, might be too much.

at least he realizes it. lots of the sell out rock gods would deny the product placements in their concert/videos mean anything. Boot that. if you're going to sell out do it at halftime in the nat'l championship game. No apologies.

Hangovers

Vodka martinis don't hurt. At all. I woke up yesterday feeling fine.
What I discovered is that drinking does not cause hangovers (unless its some really cheap sugary shit), its drinking plus smoking. I had a whole bottle of wine trying to sit throught the dreadful Angels in America on saturday night and felt just fine on sunday.

Just thought I would point that out.

cite please. seriously. i am a caffeine addict and have been since eighth grade. i have also been a sugar addict from time to time and from experience know that a month off the stuff and the addiction is gone. wouldnt the liver production of sugar preempt my losing the sugar addiction through abstention bc it would still be in the blood?

oh, and I saw some dateline nbc thing on six fatties on six different diets. the atkins fattie lost the most weight but had the most weight to lose. some woman became a maratnhoner but I dont know if she also had a diet going. a person on hypno therapy lost forty and his wife quit smoking through this with no pain. anyone know more on this from personal experience?

According to some review I read somewhere (if I rememebered where, I would link to it -- it may have been Slate or the Podunkville Picayune-Free Press), the chick in Average Joe Two is much less willing to hide her disgust at the schlubs on the show or to pretend to be interested in their alleged "inner beauty." The reviewer thought that this fact would make for more entertaining Tee Vee.

Apropos of nothing, one commercial I saw for AJ2 appeared to show a game of dodge ball, with the geek contestants getting pounded by kickballs whipped at their heads and faces by the imported studs. Throw in Jimmy Thompson snorting chocolate milk thru his nose while laughing at the green beans stuck in Marian Donofrio's braces and you have life at Podunkville's own Jefferson Elementary School circa 19XX.

I am Tivo-ing the show with The Donald. Oh, and the NFL playoffs. That should keep me busy until the Superbowl and All Star Survivor.

Atkins: Dehydration by another name

I think you left out your thesis sentence in this one.

If it was "this individual must not have been acting as a normal sedentary adult during this period", then, yeah, I'd agree with you, as he was in the gym four to five times per week.

If it was "no way this happened", well, I was there and saw the weigh-ins, and, yeah, it did. Not sure what more I could say.

Of course there's dehydration, but that effect is gone after two or three weeks. You just need to drink lots, and take a good multi.

You'd actually have to pick up the Atkins book or any of the Zone books for the cite, but it's in all of them.

Look for Okinawa study or something like that. Or mediterranean diet study.

Basically all I eat is grain (i.e. quinoa, millet, oats, etc), fruit, vegetables and fish (I'm 5'9 and 115) and I eat a lot. never been fat. I gained about 10 pounds a few years ago and (before I was a fish-eating vegetarian) and tried Atkins to take it off. I ended up gaining a lot of weight (about 5 more pounds). A high-carb diet works for me (but good carbs).
