This would be an ideal conversation to have via PM. If you did that sort of thing. Which, as others have mentioned, is not any more detectable to your IT people than posting here in the first place is.

Carry on.

Apropos of nothing....

...there appears to be some discord in the Not Family.

Back in the day, Not Mom used to resolve these sort of spats in a neutral and impartial manner. She would simply smack either Not Nick or me -- whichever one of us was closer to her -- without even pretending to care about who started it, who was at fault, whatever. If someone said "he started it!" she would smack him again, and say "well, I'm finishing it!"

True story. Carry on.

Merci. Mais bonsoir, mon cher ami, je me meurs de sommeil ; ma plume tombe de mes mains, mes yeux se ferment. Bonsoir, bonsoir, je veux que vous dormiez le mieux du monde, mon cheri ami.

It's fine that Briscoe and Green took down your thinly veiled "Jason Blair" guy who killed the bounty hunter who figured out he wasn't really "reporting". But did you have to have Goren & Emes' replacement (who sucks, btw) go after ANOTHER thinly veiled black lying NYC journalist? ENOUGH ALREADY. THE REST OF THE COUNTRY DOESN'T CARE.

Coming up this week on SVU - Benson & Stabler investigate a series of rapes that lead them . . . to a young black journalist with something to hide. [insert L&O 'dthn dthn' sound effect here.]

Sock Sleeves

http://www.uidaho.edu/student_orgs/a...evesLyrics.htm

Alas Penske you do me wrong
to create many socks so easily
you post so much you post so long
it makes me feel quite queasy.

Sockery is a pain in the ass
Sockery is a way to start fights
Sockery is making me nuts
and who socks more than Penske?

Fellow practitioners of the law
Oh why is it we are so stuck here?
We see the law has great flaws
yet we continue to practice from year to year.

Sockery is a pain in the ass
Sockery is a way to start fights
Sockery is making me nuts
and who socks more than Penske?

My fellow members of this fine board
I ask why must you cause me such pain
really I've no wish to overlord
but it's starting to hurt my brain.

Sockery is a pain in the ass
Sockery is a way to start fights
Sockery is making me nuts
and who socks more than Penske?

I am here to serve your posting needs
but there are limits to what I can take
so while I love y'all you must believe
it's starting to make me quake.

Sockery is a pain in the ass
Sockery is a way to start fights
Sockery is making me nuts
and who socks more than Penske?

If you intend my words to ignore
it will cause me to do nothing
for the ims I receive are quite a bore
and the complaints are really nutty

Sockery can be a great deal of fun
Sockery can make friday great
Sockery can make all of us laugh
and who socks more than Penske?

So friends I say please sock away
it helps the days to past faster
so fight and scream and sock you may
it helps fill the time with laughter.

Sockery can be a great deal of fun
Sockery can make friday great
Sockery can make all of us laugh
and who socks more than Penske?

And Socks, now farewell, adieu,
To firms I pray to prosper thee,
For I am still thy lover true
Come once again and sock for me.

Sockery can be a great deal of fun
Sockery can make friday great
Sockery can make all of us laugh
and who socks more than Penske?

This reminds me of the time we were dining at Le Moulin de Ponceau in Chartres, and Michael asked for "la pâtisserie a formé comme un cygne," and the waiter nearly fell into the millstream from laughing, because what he had actually said was "formé comme une singe." Oh, how we laughed!

Good times, good times.

Next week on "French Is Humorous," I'll tell you of the time Napoleon accidentally consigned 1,200 Turkish prisoners of war to death when he cursed his persistent coughing fit with "Ma sacrée toux!," or how "French in Action" inadvertently caused me to believe that "Ça va a la faculte" meant "black man in a brown three-piece suit" for many years.

or the time looking for GAre de nord, i asked a chap "Ou est Guerre?" he launched into a long diatribe, yes I can assure you.

but on a serious note, once calling a new client in Paris, i'm prepared for the conversation:

"bon jour"
"parlez vous ingles?"

well, I get out the bon jour and I hear ""bon jour???????" in almost a bronz accent.

so panicy I say "um yes this is Paris isn't it, i'mcalling from the united States."

well Frenchy must not have realized where the call was from, because she lauched back into a French accent at this point. So anyway i don't think they really speak french except when we're around. NTTAWWT.

I can't tell what they're talking about either. When I try to pronounce the words they are spelling, I sound like Foster Brooks with marbles in my mouth . . .
