1. That's entertainment and you know it. Doesn't mean its good entertainment, but its the Nancy Grace, although only once every so many months and for 3 minutes rather than 45 minutes a night each and every night.

2. It plays to the 50 million plus who voted for McCain/Palin, plus the other 50-75 million of such people's friends and families who aren't pulled together or literate enough to vote.

Come on, you know enough about entertainment and ratings to know this.

In a different context, look at the View, look at Oprah's show and a lot of her audience, then Gail, then Dr. Phil, there are lot of numbskulls in america. I blame the teacher's unions.

If they get higher ratings, do advertisers know that the extra audience is a bunch of wingnuts?

What are America's top retailers for consummer goods? Have you ever been to Walmart? Target? Sears? Costco? Do you think any of the people there watch morning TV? do you think the majority of the people that shop at any of the above ever turn off their TVs?

I understand how it all works. The question is, if I were The Today Show, would I need her ratings blip or could I tell her to suck it since all she can muster about the show and the network are insults and bullshit conspiracies. At what point does someone become so tiresome that their schtick is no longer worth it?

If they're all going to watch anyway then there's no reason to have Ann Coulter come on to be a jackass. The only reason to put up with her antics, from NBC's perspective, is if more people will watch the program.

I will confess that I go to Target and Costco much more than Wal-Mart and Sears, but only because the post-partisanness hasn't quite percolated down to my retail shopping habits.

I think she is in a contest with Rosie O'donnel, keith Olbermann and Bill O'Reilly to test those boundaries.

No vote, apparently on the theory that the voter crossed out his/her Coleman vote.

There are others with similar Xs. I'm not sure what the board's rule was, but there are ballots where the person put Xs on all of his/her votes, which seemed to be counting (I think appropriately). And there are places where there are two filled in bubbles, one with an X through it, which seem to have been awarded to the non-X candidate (perhaps appropriate).

Then she should stop throwing tantrums and yelling that she's been banned and get her own show. But if I were NBC, I'd say, "Banned is a strong word. We just don't want to invite you to our house because you TP our house when you're outside and break the furniture, pee on the rug and shit in our hats when we let you in."

Flip through some more, because if that is the criticism you are going to make, it applies to both sides.

.

I imagine that, eventually, if the only people that they have on are keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow, eventually a segment of their market will tune out there and in somewhere else. I am sure there are people out there who only watch ESPN and proclaim that it is the only station that they need, but I imagine if ESPN stops broadcasting sports, they would move down the dial, stp.

I shop all of the above except Walmart. Its too fucking crowded (and their labour practices are questionable....). It has nothing to do with post-partisanship and everything to do with value pricing. does politic partisanship colour your consummer habits? Is there a blog that guides you?

Why? the start up production costs would be huge and the risk, especially in such a saturated market would probably make financing prohibitively costly. In the alternative she has been on, at the least, the Today show, in two segments, FoxNews and CBS morning, this week, all for free, and that is just based on my very imperfect knowledge of her TV appearances. Seems she is making some good moves and the result is, her schtick produces a lot more income for her than either of our relative talents produce for us. no offence.

Based on your take on what she should do, i.e. start her own show, maybe you should start your own net based on the above principle. I, for one, would watch it, as I would with any entertainment appearances you might make.....that said, I'll take a wild guess that given the historical success, relatively, of NBC's Today show, that everything that they did this week was strategically motivated and that they consider it, essentially, a win.

And yet apparently this one is a Coleman vote:
http://senaterecount.startribune.com...edballot1F.png

That's bit odd, but the presidential vote (for McCain/Palin) had an X too.

ETA: Just after that one was a run of five or so similar ones that were counted (all for Coleman) and one that isn't. It isn't totally clear to me why these are different, although perhaps it had to do with the grounds for the challenge (which you can read hand written on the full ballot). The ones that counted all have voter intent as the objection, whereas the last one that wasn't specifically argues that it was an undervote (i.e. no vote).

EATA: Lest with think this is one sided, this (which looks pretty clear to me) was not counted as a Franken vote:

Does she have an agent who also books for a bunch of other people whom they want on the show?

Why did they bring Tom Cruise back, btw?
