As if I'd actually believe you put anything in your mouth that you can't eat.

"love child of a grizzly bear and Jabba the Hut" This is a real issue - my kid was over 10lbs and I was not into wearing bulky clothes for the same reason. Unless it is realtively thin or drapes well, I would avoid this. Plus, she is not likely to be spending too much time outside anyway. I would go with cute shoes (unless she gets Shrek feet while pregnant) that are also comfy or something nice to wear indoors for the holidays or going out to dinner before the kid arrives. Or perhaps sparkly earrings to distract from her increasing girth? A cute bag - she can use that after the baby gets here.

Yeah, this is my main concern. Astrakhan is relatively un-bulky, but still.... Then again, if she looks like a mountain anyway it might as well have a fun texture?

Well, given where she lives she sort of can't avoid it - she's got to have a really warm winter coat, even if it's just for getting from home to work to the mall.

Shrek feet, bigtime. She went from a 6 to an 8 1/2 wide while preggers last time, and ended up with feet in the size-7 range. I have no clue where they are now, much less where they are going.

I did both of these last time - also got her some pretty necklaces, etc. I'm really hoping, this time, to get her something with some shot at being stylish that will just ... cover her up as much as possible.

I got her a few pashminas last time, which went over well (being sizeless and all). Maybe I should hunt around for some artsy-fartsy painted silk coat or something - it would deal with the drape/bulk concerns.

A-Rod should be embarassed. You don't see that shit in Little League games.

The 1st base umpire should be embarassed too. How can you call a runner safe BEFORE he touches the bag? (In addition to the interference, he was also out of the base path.)
And he didn't touch the bag.

Ha. I had a soccer game on Sunday where one of the refs (mistakenly) thought one of our players had an intentional hand ball in the box. The ref gave him a yellow card and when the player complained, the ref kept calling him Maradona throughout the rest of the game.
Has the player put on a lot of weight since then?

It was actually more than just an intentional-hand-ball comparison. The ref claimed it was a hand ball and the player claimed that the ball just hit his head. The other ref, however, argued that there was not, in fact, a hand ball. I think the first ref just got confused because the player was wearing a wool hat (because it was 35 fucking degrees out) and thought he saw the player's hand.

Anyway, I'm not sure what happened to the player. All I know is that he supposedly cannot make the game this weekend because he is in Cuba.

Cruise

So I couldn't decide which board this fits better. I'm guessing here, but could be wrong.

Singer Wynonna Judd is being bombarded with e-mails from conservative Christians, urging her to cancel her engagement to perform aboard a cruise ship devoted to lesbian vacationers. If Judd doesn’t cancel, some are saying she might face a boycott.

The Traditional Values Coalition is calling Judd’s engagement “disgraceful,” saying it “conflicts with her professed Christian faith” and suggests that Judd has been “misled by the mainstream media on the origins of same-sex attractions and the self-destructive results of such attractions.”

It’s telling members to contact Judd and ask that she cancel the concert, saying on its Web site “Urge her to study what the Bible says in both the Old and New Testaments about homosexuality …. to learn how faith in Christ has set men and women free from bondage to this life-controlling condition.”

I have never personally liked the music of any of the Judds, or the Dixie Chicks for that matter, but I respect the fact that they can perform for whoever the hell they want to. Why do these people care who she is performing for? Would they kick a lesbian couple out of a "regular" audience?

I have heard that Mary Cheney is a lesbian.

I thought a handball in the box gets a penalty kick, not a yellow card.

It was our striker in their box.

This has to be an opening for some sort of sexual comment.
