go to www.realclearpolitics.com unbiased gatherer of polls. Cruz trails Hil by 2%. Rubio is beating her by 6%. Bernie is doing better against both. Cruz + anything bad for Hil and he could win.

I think people are focused on Trump right now, but as soon as they turn their attention to Cruz, he gets hammered. I can't see how anyone who is as far right as Cruz on absolutely every issue wins in a national election.

I think people on the left will turn out en masse when they realize who Cruz is (if he wins the primary).

Again, I don't put a lot of stock in these polls so early on (especially this year). I think people who are turned off by Trump are willing to say they'd vote for Cruz right now. But when he's the only option and they find out that he's to the right of Hitler on every issue, Hillary wins all but the reddest of states.

It's kind of early in the cycle to put too much stock into polls, especially national ones. In fact, I think that national polls are pretty meaningless - John Kerry and Mitt Romney both had leads in national polls during 2004 and 2012, IIRC.

It's all about the electoral votes. If Cruz is within the margin of air against Hilary in Florida or Ohio, that's a different kettle of fish.

Eta: Jesus Christ, this place really is an echo-chamber. Put me down in the "national poll numbers are meaningless; it's all about 270" side of the Libtard Coalition.

I'm not sure how much these numbers matter -- as George W Bush showed, you can lose the popular vote and still win.

Cruz is most popular in Texas, and I imagine that in Texas Trump has recently gone from being unpopular to hated. The shift from "Trump v." to "Cruz v." in a Texas poll alone could move the national needle in percentage terms, while being meaningless in electoral terms.

So will the moderate swing voters, like me. Cruz v Hillary? No-brainer. She's the easy centrist.

Cruz is the most dangerous candidate of the bunch. He's diabolical, ruthless, and knows the game. Trump is 10X better (God, did I just say that? Yes, I did.). Trump's hopeless and would run a shit show for four years and then be thrown out of office by the greatest margin in election history. So would Cruz, but the damage he'd do in the interim would haunt us for generations.

Thankfully, it's all academic. The only people who can beat Hillary are Kasich and Trump. And Trump is fucking it up just like you knew he would.

Fuck the polls. And fuck the media trying to make Cruz look like a contender. That's a bunch of paid-for McJournalists holding the GOP Establishment's water and looking to create a horse race to cover.

The GOP Establishment would rather lose to Hillary, who they know will govern something like a Rockefeller Republican, than give the party away to populists. A Cruz nomination, at this point, is a win for them. They get to sacrifice a staggering dickhead they'd sought to be rid of for years.

I lean libertarian and have voted usually R, but not infrequently D. But when you support Cruz, I can't help but think you've lost your mind. He's not just an atrocious candidate. He's a full on sociopath. He's not hated because he's bucking the GOP Establishment. If you know anyone in DC, you know -- he's hated because he'd kill his children for political gain. The man is rotten, wrong, and disturbed to his core.
