I thought Trump hired him because he looked good on TV, which is odd considering the mustache. YMMV. You see him and think, where's the rest of the barbershop quartet?

This is a very fair point. He seems to have more integrity than most people in the Administration. He kept telling Trump to bomb people, and so on, and he kept at it even after it became clear that Trump is a bully who doesn't want to get in a fight. So he got himself canned. Someone with less integrity would have told Trump what he wanted to hear.
