Indeed, Tuesday is Blancpain and anal day.

I just received a fundraising missive entitled: "What’s so special about Tuesday?"

I see it differently. As long as small people who enjoy watching talented people who've done nothing but entertain them experience failings, there will be a market for shit like Fuller and Grace. What's happening to Tiger is our fault. We're provincial (our President gets a hummer and we have a fucking impeachment about it), we're envious (most Tiger haters want him to fail because they want everyone who has a level of success they'll never achieve to collapse... it's as close as they'll ever come to feeling like they're succeeding), many of us are racist (I've heard some pretty noxious shit directed by white guys at Woods), we're petty (Elin's hot, so I've no doubt there's a crowd of disgusting white trash couch potato women loving her pain) and we've nothing better to interest ourselves with at the moment (the collapse of our country into an all but banana republic - economically, intellectually and culturally - is something better ignored than considered... why not wallow in some tawdry side-show shit instead?).

I hope Tiger goes out and wins a string of a dozen majors after this.

How does it compare to that directed at OJ? I haven't heard it, but I'm fairly cloistered.

For Hank

What do you think about this?:

"A revised three-way deal with Curtis Granderson going to the Yankees, Edwin Jackson to the Diamondbacks and Max Scherzer and prospects to the Tigers is back on table and being discussed."

I'd like to know which prospects we'd be giving up, but I would kill for Granderson.

TM

eta: This is what the deal was before: A proposed blockbuster may be on life support after the Yankees declined to give up Austin Jackson, Ian Kennedy, Michael Dunn and Phil Coke for Curtis Granderson in a deal that would have sent Edwin Jackson and Kennedy to Arizona and Max Scherzer, Daniel Schlereth and the other prospects to Detroit. One person familiar with the talks said they appeared "dead" while another held out a small hope to resurrect them.

I'd love to have Granderson, but I think that's way too much to give up.

Kind of the reverse. W/OJ, it was anger manifesting itself as racist shit. With Woods it's a "oh, fuck... he's taking the last sport away from old white guys" thing manifesting itself as a constant cheering for anyone who happens to be near Woods on the leader board at the moment. Makes you want to ask the people rabidly cheering against Woods, "Would you be so invested in cheering against anyone else?"

That and, as I said, some openly rotten jokes.

Don't forget the righteous black women I have heard on sports talk radio upset with Tiger (and many other black athletes) for only fucking white chicks. I have not heard the same from Asian women, though.

Yes, Chris Cosentino told me and some friends that they were given a list of 5 possible ingredients in advance. This is why, unlike the Japanese version, you don't see the chefs writing out a menu after the "secret" ingredient is revealed.

Worst thing about the american version: (general) absence of dessert except when the ingredient is especially conducive.

That's some damn strange sports radio you're listening to.

The funniest part of that criticism is Tiger isn't even black. He's biracial. Like 95% of everyone else you meet everyday. How in the hell does a group get to "claim" somebody. That shit drove me nuts when Obama was running. He's a mutt like the rest of us. The only quirk is that he has a recent "mixture" in his genetic tree, whereas, say, in my case, somebody from closer to the Equator must have been among my ancestors long ago. How else would my my darker hair and features, which surely aren't consistent with a genetic background solely limited to peoples of Eastern Europe and Ireland, have come about?

I fully understand the culture issues that make this sound naive. But that doesn't mean people shouldn't try to address this stuff rationally. The criticisms of those women aren't primarily offensive because they push a segregationist view. They're most offensive because they're dumb.

It might also be that I just hate anything that groups people. Carlin was right - one one one, we're all dandy. Put a bunch of us together and give us some binding ethos and we turn to shit. Perhaps this explains my distaste for religion. Or yours.

(Yes, I'm in a pedantic ranting mode today. I read some Richard Dawkins essay excerpts last night and some shit about the Stupak amendment in the health care bill and have a serious "most humans suck" thing going on.)

If only you were ranting on topics about which there was disagreement, we would have the makings for a good day on the FB.

But at some point, where are your fucking ethics as a journalist (even a fake one)? No one should have to put up with this shit, especially not his family.

I have to agree. How crazy has it gotten that I actually got a "warning" from the AP app on my phone telling me that something had happened to Tiger's mom? This is such big news that the AP, a supposedly professional news organization, feels the need to actually send an announcement about it? This isn't news, it is a personal life of someone who happens to be famous and his family, and it really should remain there.
