I don't see it assuming escalating costs from Iraq/Afghanistan through 2019 -- I see slightly less spending in that category in 2019 than 2009, but basically flat. I think the chart was written before the agreement to keep troops in Iraq fell apart. Obviously, CBO made a bunch of assumptions about what would happen, and if we spend less money then the deficit will be less. It doesn't change the truth of what Chris Hayes said, though.

The chart looks like the costs stay pretty much the same -- I figured the costs going through 2019 were related to the interest on the debt incurred as a result of deficit spending in earlier years.

I thought she'd be able to get an F-1 visa but you have to either apply from outside the country or be in the country legally.

Weird that immigration wants to deport her but not her parents.

Fox "unintentionally" asks people if the jewish people are Christ-killers.

Can anyone figure out how that is "unintentional"?

Duh -- because FOX already knew that the Jews are Christ-killers.

C'mon now, it was Nat Geo (who knew Fox owned that)

I can't figure out how they got their theology so wrong.

The multiple-choice responses were “Pontius Pilate; The Jewish People; the High Priests.”
Everybody* knows that all humanity is responsible for Christ's death. He came to be the ultimate Passover sacrifice for our sin. So the correct response wasn't even given as an option.

The difference between Democratic Iowa caucus and Republican Iowa caucus:

FWIW, according to the Des Moines Register explanation, it really does sound a bit more like a primary than a caucus with people running around and forming groups in cold gymnasiums and having interminable votes and wearing funny hats.

Well, they might still wear the funny hats.

As of right now, Santorum is up over Romney by 118 votes out of something like 120,000 cast. Does it really matter which of them wins?

eta: It's not a winner-take-all event.

Looks like Romney comes out ahead. He gets to say, "I told you so." It matters to him that he can say he can win.

A very close second also matters for Santorum, because this will lead voters to freak out that he could be competitive in the primaries thus bringing his surge to a swift end. They don't want the antisex candidate.

It matters for Bachmann, who is now done. Maybe Newt for similar reasons.

It doesn't really matter for anyone else unless this becomes the start of a Romney coronation, and I kind of think it will.

Romney needed to win to preserve his aura and image. The roles throughout have been Romney as front-runner, a rotating cast of Other Person as challenger, and Ron Paul as the New Crazy.

The conservative wing is going to solidify around Santorum now -- I'm guessing Perry drops out before NH, Bachmann shortly after. Paul will continue to do well with Crazy (and there are lot of those in NH), especially after Newt drops out --- though Newt may stay in awhile, to see if he can remain alive until SC where he should do well.

Many Rs, who actually like sex and don't sleep with their Bibles, will have to choose between holding their noses and voting for Romney, who really grates on them, and voting for Crazy. Should be interesting.

Caveat: I'm talking out of my ass here.

Yeah, I don't think there will be any solidifying around Santorum, and I think him taking over the mantle of the anti-Romney is just going to accelerate the nose-holding.

Yeah, I don't think there is going to be any solidifying around Santorum, and I think his ascendance to the current anti-Romney is just going to accelerate the process of nose-holding.

I'm actually warming to Romney, although it may be in way similar to warming to the prettiest ugly girl in a pack as closing time approaches.
