As an admin and an FB denizen, I want our K race to happen quick, fast, in a hurry, so that we can resume normal operations.

If you delete all the Just For Fun posts, we should be in good shape...

Better yet, can you get this programmed to skip 12,000, and just go straight to 12,001? Then 12,000 can be slipped in at random at a later time.

Conceivably, I could auction off the 12,000th post to the highest contributor to my true poker account.

I will start the bidding at one cent.

BTW, there's an interesting k-race kicker because one can't post more than once in 20 seconds. Can't really create the k-race train and peel them off.

So, can we now start talking about the Tour?

Will Lance win No. 5?

Nicely done, Chief Justice.

Can the dearth of posts be related to people leaving early for the holiday weekend?

Yes, Congrats.

And I must say, your Avatar is perfect for the July 4th weekend.

I don't know if it has anything to do with people leaving early, but I know I'm heading out in about an hour and am already one of the last here.

Have a good 4th all.

QUESTION

As a lawyer, being anything but guarantees you'll be missing a vacation. I can't imagine the level of frustration at scheduling a time-share two years hence in Maui, and then being told by a partner tht that is the one, and only one, week in which an unimportant third-party witness must be deposed.
Precisely my point. Check the number of people who said "my parents have one" or "parents of a friend have one" and they love it. This is a great deal for someone who doesn't need to take Christmas/New Years/Labor Day off and can go whenever (aka retired people). And it always happens, you plan a vacation and some damn hearing comes up. So until you retire, stick with Expedia.

Yes, of course. I read somewhere that he had the perfect biker body - longer than average femur, slow heart rate (I know that comes with practice), enhanced lung capacity...

I am incredibly anxious about this Tour.

Five is impossibly hard, and five consecutive has only been done by Indurain.

The Posties always end the season so weakly at the Vuelta making stupid tactical decisions and losing it for Heras, so I am always concerned until the second mountain stage.

With only two mountain top finishes, it could be more competitive for the field. We'll just have to watch and see.

But he already has four. So it's a question of whether there's usually only a four to five year window for winning. Is he over the hill? We'll see. I'm more worried of something unlucky happening. The worst thing he's had happen is getting stuck at the back end of that crash last year, and some of the team time trial fiascos.

My sister in law went to highschool with Lance's wife. They recently got back in touch after SIL was reading People and recognized her old friend (I think it was an article about marital problems between Lance and his wife). It was apparently not an easy feat to track them down to contact her.

It was news of an imminent divorce. Which they decided to reconcile.

This is so sad. We're the only ones left at work aren't we? I should be at a baseball game.

Well, my S-i-L got a physical before she started training to take up long distance running, and apparently her resting heart rate was under 40, and her blood pressure was 90/60. I thought that made you clinically dead, but she's gotten through 3 marathons OK, so I guess not.

You're working too? They said yesterday in MSNBC, that his resting heartrate was 32. And yeah, I thought that was dead. So if the paramedics show up at your house and your heartrate is 32, do they wheel in the crash cart?

Still here for now, but not this weekend. I'm just ticked that it is supposed to be SMOKING hot this weekend, in the 90s, and thunderstorming on Saturday (while in the 90s), rather than the lovely clear high-70s weather we've been having this week. I need to remember to get a 12 pack in the fridge tonight, or I'll never make it to Monday.

Which reminds me of a joke...
Flight attendant upon giving the pre-flight instructions ended by saying, "Now sit back and enjoy your trip while your Captain, Judith Smith and crew take you safely to your destination."
Joe, who was sitting in the 7th row said to himself, "a woman pilot? I'd better order a drink."

When the flight attendant came by with the drink cart, he order a scotch and soda and asked the attendant, "Did I understand you right? The captain's a woman?"

"Yes" said the attendant, "in fact, the entire crew is female."

Joe asked, "Nothing but women in the cockpit?"

The attendant said "Oh yeah, that's another thing, we no longer call it the cockpit. Now it's the box office."

I also like the one about the female construction worker who was working on a crane and exasperated by her male colleague who was on the ground. The male colleague kept asking her where the hammer was and she kept signalling him by pointing to her eye, to her left breast, to her crotch, and to her buttocks. After several failed attempts she descended from the crane and shouted in his face: "I left it in the box, asshole!"

Mine used to in the upper thirties and I'm pretty sure I was not dead, but who knows.

MPRE Question

Has anyone taken the MPRE recently? Does anyone know how long it really takes to finish the MPRE? The info packet says it's a two-hour exam, but I remember when I took it several years ago, before they changed the test in '99, that I finished in a little over an hour. Two hours was more than enough time to finish. Is this still the case?

I hope so, otherwise, I'm going to miss my flight. I'm taking it again for bar admission in another state.

Thanks all!

Indeed I did. But nothing to do with kidnapping. Something about hot clubs and interminable waits between hip hop acts makes the gin and tonics go down like water. Fortunately, I went to one of those girly spin class thingies over lunch, and that wrung every ounce of liquid (including the G&T's) out of my system. I spent the afternooon rehydrating and am now ready to hop back on the depravity train again - tonight, the White Stripes. It's not easy being me, but at least I'm not listening to neo-classical or that sissy jazz stuff like Greedy cubed. I stopped going to jazz shows when I realized that all the supposedly great jazz musicians were just moving their fingers really fast - basically playing the same muddied swirl of notes over and over again for every solo. Sorry, folks, but that ain't music, no matter how sophisticated it makes you feel to sit in a jazz club and listen to it.

Prenups

This might be the wrong place to post it, because it's a quasi- substantive question, but does anyone have any idea:

a) How much I should charge my "jewelry guy" to do a prenup for him? (I've never done one before)

b) Does anyone have a prenup form they could email me?

For a), I'm thinking of just charging him about $75/hour for as long as it takes me, which is certainly well below what a LA family lawyer would charge, but it should be as it's going to take me longer, and I don't know what I'm doing.

Is there anything I should know about in doing this? Anything easily avoidable that will get me sued for malpractice if I fail to do it?

Thanks.

str8.

If the dude has enough money that he thinks he needs a pre-nup, I would charge him one meeleeyun dollars.

Failing to avoid advice from anonymous lawyers on an internet chat board?

Why not charge a fixed rate, so you don't punish him for needing to bone up on the area. If you're going to do a form, just figure out how much changing it will involve.

For anyone who cares...
Sharon Stone is divorcing what's his name

I guess he's still a little pissed about that Komodo Dragon incident.

NEW YORK, 2:09 p.m. PDT July 3, 2003 - Sharon Stone and her husband, San Francisco Chronicle Executive Editor Phil Bronstein, are divorcing. Bronstein cited irreconcilable differences in his petition for divorce, filed Thursday in San Francisco County Superior Court. A copy of the document was obtained by "Entertainment Tonight."
Stone, 45, and Bronstein, 52, who married on Feb. 14, 1998, said in a statement the dissolution was "amicable and mutual." They have a 3-year-old son, Roan.
