Don't you mostly carry your bike when you race?

Which is why I need a fancy carbon fiber CX bike with high end, lightweight parts. Easier to carry and enhances the experience.

We hope whoever buys our old house enjoys the fucking density.

This sounds like the way Herb and Bonnie Clutter described the house they bought in Holcomb. Good luck.

And it wouldn't help anyway since you have to carry it the whole time.

Right. The motor is just added weight that I have to carry, and the lack of top tube makes it impossible to shoulder the bike. Also, that e-bike has wheels, which are superfluous components when you are carrying the bike the entire race.

I prefer to run without added weight, but I suppose I'm a little bike curious.

This looks like my version of hell, amplified by it being in Iowa City.

So, we are trading the once-new house in the fancy near burbs for the exurban spread with a this-old-house classic. The next year or three are going to be filled with architects, contractors and landscapers. So what would you want in a dream house? What are all the little things we can add to make it special. Bonus points for anything that is appropriate to a federalist farmhouse.

Plumbing.

Theoretically we get it back on April 23rd. Going with PEX, slightly two months after the freeze that took it out.

That’s Mt. Crumpit at Jingle Cross in Iowa City, which in recent years has been one of the few Cyclocross World Cups in the United States. Only the top cyclocross riders in the world can generally ride up it. Sometimes the race goes down Mt. Crumpit. When it is snowy or rainy, that adds to the fun. This video is from years ago, before it was a World Cup race. 26 seconds in, lower right corner for the money shot:

The way this group is aging, that's a handy tool y'all should all be considering ;)

My MIL has a similar one and is moving into the big city next to some nice bike trails.

Yeah, I've found myself having to carry a bike like that, but never on purpose and certainly never in Iowa.

Plus, when you go into the porta potty what do you do with the bike?

Bike racing seems nuts on streets. That is beyond crazy.
