Agreed. I actually had a few halfway decent exchanges with her over pm in which I could see that a human being existed behind all of the garbage. But then she would fuck it all up.

And she would have disappeared quicker if Penske and Flower had stuck to the plan to ignore her, but they (Penske especially) thought she was entertaining. And to be honest, she was...the first 3 months.

The last time we all (or at least you and me) engaged her until we decided not to. I remember it was a July 1, that was the day we stopped.

"A woman needs a man a career and a child or she is just bitter." You have to sort of admire the beauty of her ugliness.

However, I would gladly accept that schools should have jurisdiction over inter-student contact under those circumstances, as it speaks to the education of the child as a whole person/citizen, which doesn't stop at the schoolhouse door. As Bnb noted, private schools (I know, I know, different kettle of fish) exert jurisdiction in those circumstances on that basis.

I don't need any veil of ignorance in order to decide that the right thing to do is deny cover or excuses for children (or anyone, really) to degrade the humanity of another person. Why would the fact that my own child is the perpetrator change that choice?

Careful, there. I suspect that you mean "jurisdiction" in the sense that "schools CAN impose disciplinary measures on students based on off-campus conduct (at least when it affects the school or other students)". But Atticus may read that as you meaning "schools MUST control off-campus conduct."

This will cause him to get in a ferocious lather about some recent case in which a nutty parent sued the school for not preventing a student from shitting in her rose-bushes on a Saturday in July, the court denying his summary judgment motion, and the general stress he incurs when discussions veer from zoning (his happy place).

I read cases against school districts who impose discipline for pure speech acts, and they don't always come out like you'd expect.

Another losing strategy is: I Have A Softball Adorned With Hundreds Of Thorns From A Rose Bush; Logically I Should Stick The Thorny Ball Up Your Ass. It is as relevant an example of strategies as yours as I have adopted neither strategy nor promoted any arguments that suggest I have (although my Thorned Ball strategy is looking more appealing to me these days, and when I say that, I am coming from a place of love).

Reminder to Sebastian: Apology still owing.

I'll mention here that my wife follows Teegan & Sara on Instagram (I am Not Kidding); that should trigger Flower's Id to require that Serious Flower send some shade my way.

Will that help make you less sad, Coltrane?

Oh sure, always fucking blame Penske and Flower. Who caused ppnyc to stick around? Penske and Flower. Who was behind the beautiful idiocy of The Daintiest Petunia (sniff)? Penske and Flower. Who littered the old politics board with inane socks that relentlessly posted photoshopped Hillary Clinton pictures? Penske and Flower.

Actually, that last one was just Penske. But I think you know what I'm saying. It's time the board stopped using Penske and Flower as convenient scapegoats and started taking some accountability for its problems. Or I'm gonna get so Incognito on all your asses, Sebastian and Atticus are going to jointly sponsor Lawtalkers Board legislation to stop my cyber-bullying campaign. Constitution. Be. Damned.

I assume your purposefully misspelled Tegan to make me think that you don't actually sit around with your wife doing a cappellas version of their songs while co-moderating the local branch of the Tegan & Sara Biggest Fans Ever internet chatting site. Good play.

You're welcome, Coltrane.

There was the whole thing about how I was a terrible mother because I was divorced too. That one I don't think I'll ever forget.

Remember when she became a dandy fop in a crushed velvet Edwardian sack suit and threatened to sue and/or expose us all to our employers?

Ah, memories.

Funny. Neither their union nor their department leadership seem to reflect that. Or at least as far as I can tell.

And so given these strides in paring down its officious interactions with the public regarding these matters, it should now start regulating other private behaviors?

The red tape created by endless do-gooder laws is endless. It hampers our economy. It creates needless bureaucratic work. And it's all counterproductive. The more you teach people to ask the govt for intervention, the more they'll lose the ability to handle the problem on their own.

Note to Sebby: this is crazy talk.

You are welcome.
