 |  I think it'll be tapered, but in some instances, in person meetings will still be the rule.  
 
You can't close on transactions between parties that aren't familiar with each other from afar.  People have to meet and develop some sort of trust.  I just spent six hours in a meeting where, if the parties couldn't see eye to eye, it would have been a mess.  No matter how good Zoom might be, you can't look someone in the eye effectively through it.  
 
But I totally agree on depositions and hearings.  They're often adversarial and people are lying or obfuscating anyway, so there's no benefit to being there in person.  How many Perry Mason moments have you had in a deposition?  Even if you find a smoking gun document, the witness and counsel will stonewall.  "Sitting here right now, I can't recall," is the same in person as it is on Zoom. |
