The shortage of Japanese single malt has me down, I think my last few drams have all been quarter cask myself.

May you and your PLF sock enjoy. Remember, after the bike ride, not before.

Sometimes I need to wet my lips with a bit of Islay just to get my corpulence into the saddle. And then a bit more to face the hill at base of the cul de sac at the end of my driveway. A little nip as a reward at the top of the hill, and I知 usually ready to turn around and wheel my enormous soft pasty thighs back down the hill to the driveway. But I think I知 just a few sets of bicep curls away from the perfect dad bod.

Business is gonna be tough. I took my 1st business trip in fifteen months this week and I can't believe I used to do it every week. Unless you absolutely need to be face to face with a person (as I often do with older clients) there's no justifying the expense when you can basically do a zoom dep from your bedroom, rather than flying, driving, staying.

I have an empty bottle of Jura The Bay (can't buy in the US) that I sniff every once and a while. I did a tour there April '19 and liked the stuff. I prefer it to the smoky peaty crap like Ardberg.

This is poetry. Dad poetry.

Congrats on getting to the top of that hill. I try to avoid hills, myself.

So glad we agree on the big things.

Not just a loser, but a loser in a way that no one has been a loser for half a century. Oh -- also a failed blogger and a golf cheat.

I think it'll be tapered, but in some instances, in person meetings will still be the rule.

You can't close on transactions between parties that aren't familiar with each other from afar. People have to meet and develop some sort of trust. I just spent six hours in a meeting where, if the parties couldn't see eye to eye, it would have been a mess. No matter how good Zoom might be, you can't look someone in the eye effectively through it.

But I totally agree on depositions and hearings. They're often adversarial and people are lying or obfuscating anyway, so there's no benefit to being there in person. How many Perry Mason moments have you had in a deposition? Even if you find a smoking gun document, the witness and counsel will stonewall. "Sitting here right now, I can't recall," is the same in person as it is on Zoom.

OK, an appeal to you guys for a ruling.

Is it too off-color to refer to the current meeting of Catholic Bishops as a "sausage fest"?

I'm being told this was over the line, but I plead truth as a defense.

It was over the line for your audience, so what does it matter what we think?

It痴 far more flattering than any phrase I would have used.

Maybe I should repharse:

Did I offend them just enough, too much, or not enough? Because, obvy, sometimes we want to offend some people.

A lot of bishops like getting insulted by cute young men.
