I've been to shrinks. They say my problem is I get bored way to quickly, so no matter what I'm doing, unless I'm stimulated 24/7, I'll be unhappy. Then they offered me drugs. Fuck that. I'll take the highs and lows rather than the "housewife's lobotomy" otherwise known as Prozac/Zoloft, etc. I know my problem - I'm a bit spoiled and unrealistic and impatient and I do get bored very quickly. I don't need a pill to fix that. I probably just need to get another magazine subscription to add to the dozen or so I already have.

There is simply not enough time in the day to injest the media I need to injest. I have a stack of Maxim/Playboy/Newsweek/NYTimes/FHM/Atlantic Monthly/Time etc... to get through at home and at least 15 hours of discovery specials on the Tivo I need to watch, and the NYTimes keeps coming every morning, forcing me further and further behind. I was up till 2 last night reading playboy and watching special about bears and spiders. I need more time damnit, more time...

Oh, its fuckin ridiculous. They get a fucking sniffle and take three days off. I've had vicious head colds and sinus infections and haven't been to a doctor for a cold in over a decade. The shit goes away on its own if you give it time and drink lots of fluids. If you go to the doctor, its like getting your car fixed. The asshole will take your blood pressure or do some test which requires another test and next thing you know you'll be on a low salt diet or be told you can't drink anymore or some new age shit along those lines. The last thing I need is someone telling me I'll go to hell for having my occasional smoke or that my liver is distended or I have some sort of chronic sinus condition that will require antibiotics. I have life a nice life insurance policy for my wife. Therefore, I don't need medical people telling me I can't eat steak anymore or I need to cut down on sushi because I have worms or parasites that are working their way from my intestines to my brain through my veins.

I have yet to take a sick day since I've been at this joint, and I've been a here a while.

I have been dating a GA from my firm for about a year. Dating might be a little strong. We have been hanging out and sleeping together. My roommate, who used to work with us, suspects. Other than that, no one else knows. (Since we all go out together a few times a week, we all keep the relationships quiet.)

We like each other, but it's really about the fantastic sex.

We are at a crossroads in the relationship. I am looking for an actual relationship (it started as a rebound for me), and I cannot figure out how to break the news without making this a big deal.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you also a GA or are you a partner? Just curious. Have you worked out for yourself what would be different about the relationship if it were an "actual relationship"? Like, would that involve (to you) not keeping the relationship as quiet anymore? It sounds like you spend a fair amount of time together (even aside from sex) so I'm wondering what the change would entail. Also, if you are going to broach this, it seems like something y'all would need to discuss, and that would obviously be easier if you can articulate what you want out of the relationship other than company and sex.

Edited to add, don't pay attention to the avatar. Pretend it's still Salome with the head of St. John the Baptist. Cathy's face plus the earnest relationship questions is a bit much.
