That guy is funny. I can't decide which part is my favorite:

It’s also pretty wonderful that my awareness rating was 59. You make it sound like I wake up in the morning, helplessly shit and piss myself, then lose three of my teeth before I discover that I am trying to eat a rock for breakfast. Fuck, John, I understand you saying that I am slow and lacking athleticism, but a rating like this pretty much labels me as retarded.

My agility rating on your game is 33. It makes it sound like I just topple over if I start walking too fast. Ted Washington is rated a 40 in agility. He is listed at 365 pounds. If Ted Washington tied a white lady up and made her wear a metal bikini, he’d look just like Jabba the Hut.

Maybe so. I just find it hilarious that he repeated to the media what he said to that opponent -- in essence, "too bad they rushed us; it interfered with a great head-to-head" -- and the PGA calls this an "unreasonabl[e] attack or disparage[ment]" under its rules.

OTOH, Tiger says there was no fine. Looks like an anonymous leaker at the PGA is going to have a tougher time getting his calls returned by the AP . . . .

I love the Chaska MN dateline on these articles!

My nephew was at Monday's practice round and missed seeing Tiger by 1/2 hour. Because Tiger was in the final pairing Sunday, he didn't think he'd be at the course so early.

little deal here? when you predict what penance a priest might set after confession of a particular set of venal sins, I'll take your word, and when I explain something about sports you take mine?

can we play ball?

What's really sad is that the news that Fugee's nephew came within 30 minutes of watching Tiger practice is the most interesting thing that's hit the board today.

Not sure why I'm Debunking Guy today, but:

Even with the rating he probably would have remained anonymous were it not for a profanity-filled letter to NBC Sports analyst John Madden, who helped EA Sports develop the game. The letter carried Albright's name on the bottom with the signature line "Rot in Hell" that made its way around the Internet. He did not write the letter and admits that when he first saw it, "I laughed my butt off."

I could tell you the story of the young female associate who walked into my office a bit ago, closed the door, walked around behind my desk and... figured out there was no reason to be there so instead sat in my guest chair while I briefed her about the matter.

Much more exciting, no?

Anyone know anything about oil painting? If you want to give a gift to a beginner, is there a good one?

Someone just taking up oil painting? Find your nearest Utrecht store location. Great place. Usually staffed by art students.

There are a million things to get someone - you could get a nice easel, a paint box, some supplies to experiment with (like a whole bunch of different mediums and resins). My daughter got some plexiglass and translucent paints one trip (oils come in differing levels of opacity) and painted something like a stained glass window, and that was cool.

Let the art students guide you. Or just give a gift certificate. If the person is a true beginner, discovering a really good art store is a thrill in itself.

and, not to fight the hypo, but acrylics are much easier and much less frustrating for a beginner.

Any recommendations for bottled tomato sauce that contains meat? I could probably handle adding some cooked Italian Sausage, but I am not up to fully homemade sauce. It will be going over a long pasta and sliced greens of some kind.

I have already thought of Progresso Sausage.

There are acrylic people and oil people. They don't mix and they don't convert.

I'm an oil person. I can only use acrylics for silk screening and block printing. I can't understand how one can paint with them.

ty might be buying for a kid- would you rather be a parent cleaning up after oil painting or acrylic painting?

PS while i never painted in oils, I do acknowledge their superiority, at least for those who can use them.

I would suggest a Rembrandt, or maybe a Vermeer.

There are some acrylics I love seeing - a lot of the op art stuff. It makes good large solid spaces, sharp edges, that sort of thing. But it's not what I do when I'm mucking around on canvas, because I like mixing it up and creating funky goo and running things together. It's also easier to fix mistakes with oil. (Note - I do this for fun and to teach kids, wouldn't let anyone here see my muck).

Oils are much, much harder to clean, though there is something somewhat new called water-based oil (yes, contradiction in terms) that is easier to clean. It's what they're using for my daughter's art lessons, and it behaves sort of like an intermediate between acrylics and oil.

Another good gift - lessons. A lot of museums have great programs.

You can scrape and repaint, or use opaque paints on top if you're working in opaques, or as long as its wet (and you can keep it wet forever) you can just work in new paints.

Taking a week or two to dry lets you do a lot.

Is claiming a trademark in initials some kind of fad?

Quick question - with whom do you associate the following: "A", "IM", "ND", "RAM".

I got the 3rd letter in the last 6 months claiming rights in initials. I don't see all that many of these letters, and the TM guys poo-pooed the first two, but three makes a trend in my book.

TMs are lousy with people writing meaningless threat letters. mostly acronyms, even though they can be confusing (hi Ty!), ain't TMs. if you want to send details pm I'll comment but it sounds like you have support.
