Brobeck Sues Clifford Chance and Tower Snow Quote:
As I've said before, Brobeck died so that others could live. Who is representing Clifford Chance and Tower? |

 Carr & Ferrell Quote:
I always suspected that John Ferrell had something to do with the deletion of negative postings about his firm on Greedy. This confirms it for the most part. Now I suspect he actually is the "slippery weasel" I've heard about. It seems he's doing himself more harm than good trying to bury these postings. |

 Carr & Ferrell Quote:
In this case, deleting posts about Carr & Ferrell on the Big Board (telling the community they can't read the posts) creates a much bigger stir and garners far more attention than the original posts themselves. Now everyone will assume that they should avoid working for C&F like the plague--what else is there to assume other than that the content of the deleted posts was scathing? C&F would have been better off having two or three people create Hotmail accounts and then having them go to the boards to provide contrary opinions (that seem reasonable, make some concessions, and aren't completely overblown) under the guise of being objective outsiders. I'm surprised that they didn't have the good sense to realize how anonymous Internet posting and the influencing of opinion on the the Internet really works. Too late now. |

first year career advice needed I am an associate finishing my first year at a large bay area firm. I'm in the corporate group, and while I'm thankful to have a job, I'm pretty dissatisfied with the actual work that I'm doing. I really think that I'd like to get into an antitrust practice. My questions are these: -- Do you know how common it is to make a change like this? I don't really have antitrust experience, except for an econ background and both undergrad and law school classes. -- What is your take on antitrust practices at specific bay area firms? Who is strong? Are any hiring that you know of? That's a good start for now. I'm interested in hearing answers to any of the above questions, or any other advice that you might offer. Thanks. |

When you talk about antitrust work, do you mean transactional or litigation-oriented? If the latter, plaintiff-side or defense-side? |

first year career advice Well, honestly I'm not sure as to what I'd prefer. Probably transactional, though I'd certainly give litigation a try. How would you suggest that I go about getting my foot in the door? ---- thanks. |
