I think purple was most expensive, but that any color at all was expensive, including black, so color in general would be a sign of wealth.

There were a number of places where sumptuary laws limiting, for example, the wearing of colors, became very extensive, and those are the places where colors were most prestigious. But that tends to be later in the middle ages in places like Northern Italy, rather than in the wild and crazy days of Goths and Huns.

Dude, you're usually the voice of reason, but its very obvious on this subject your brain has gone on holiday. Stamos and Burke are a dead heat, and while Stamos may look a tad more natural, Burke hardly looks stripperish. I have seen women who look like Burke with natural boobs... would you call such gifted chicks "naturally stripperish?" One that comes to mind is Selma Hayek.

What does a stripper type look like? My next door neighbors just informed me they were strippers, and I wouldn't have had the first clue if they hadn't said they were.

Commonly taught misperception. Black was actually a pretty easy color to produce, and only a middling-expensive dye (though there were "vanity" variants that were mixtures of very expensive dyes). Later middle ages/early renaissance nobility were particularly fond of black, but this was largely a fashion (a "see, I'm so sophisticated and subtle that I will show off my money by wearing all black clothes instead of flashily-dyed fabrics, but they will be expensively woven and cut on the bias so my exquisite taste will only be obvious to the informed observer" sort of a thing).

True reds were quite dear, but it is whites that were nearly unheard of except as overt displays of disposable wealth. White was too hard to keep clean.
