Expense shouldn't have anything to do with it. A trial has to be cheaper than housing an inmate for the 30 extra years your average serial killer would live getting LWOP than death penalty. (30 years = totally random guess unsupported by any research). But because the people who set and administer the State Attorney's office are different from the people who oversee the corrections budget, there probably is some inefficiency going on.

The risk factor of going to trial has to be pretty negligible, huh? Not much chance of the bad guy walking free. But there probably is an insurance-mentality into the state taking the plea. A not-guilty verdict would be a disaster beyond disasters, and would scuttle the political future of everyone involved. So take the plea.

I fully recognize that nothing in this answer is directly responsive to the moral quandry posed by AG. Sorry. My bad.

What is ice wine? I have decided after lots of thought that this is not just a recurring typo of rice wine.

Edited to add that if anyone else watched Gilmore Girls last night, that dorky guy constantly referring to what his gf thought/wanted etc. (rather than saying I or even we) is kinda the same thing as this bizarre behavior by e/o that paigow has so harshly criticized. I can't believe a whole TX/DC feud has started over such a minor thing, but I guess when you have two people as sensitive as paigow and e/o involved it's just inevitable.

You can usually get away with having the waist taken in about 2 inches, tops, and about 3-4 inches on the chest and shoulders. Anything beyond that, and unless you have a master tailor who can reset the pockets and all kinds of other expensive things, it will look like you had your Daddy's suit downsized.

A common argument of death penalty opponents is that trial and all appeals (many of them are required) are actually much more expensive to the states than putting the inmates up for 30 + years. Someone else might even feel inspired to google this.

So, if you just lost your gut, there should be no problem. If you went from a 46 to a 44, you have a problem.

Major alterations done well won't be cheap, but if you like the suit they could be worth it.

Ice wine is from a late harvested grape, after the vines have iced over. The flavor is concentrated and wonderful. Germany was the only place that produced it until Canada started. Canadian ice wine is excellent.

it's a sweet dessert wine. The grapes are frozen and then picked while frozen and pressed before they thaw. It's delicious. I have not seen it much here, but it is abundant in Canada (perhaps because it is the type of wine that can be made well in a cold place)
