Based on the handy-dandy wikipedia article, I think if your "uber" doesn't have an umlaut it needs to be spelled "ueber." But I'm not sure. Any Germanics around?

You are correct about the umlaut. Add an e if you don't have an umlaut at your disposal.

I have seen uber with an umlaut, but I have never seen it ueber. I think the ue is mostly for the Anglicization of names.

Why the hostility? Not into fourteen inch tall ugly guys?

I think the board has taken a turn for the better. A few months ago all we'd get is negative grammar posts, now we get this positive reinforcement.

I think the new nicer tone is in large part my doing, if I do say so myself.
