After the arson at Quba Islamic Institute in Houston, all their social media accounts are attracting the absolute worst Islamaphobes possible. But they're masters at answering the trolls. Example from their facebook page:

Yes, Hank, the "joke," for what it was worth, was that maybe this fellow needs all your brilliant arguments because the ones he was using weren't working.

That said, I think you'll find that pretty much everything below the 1993 picture of Bill and Hillary is about the direct impact on people.

If he makes himself relevant again, perhaps. At this point, he's just an old guy yelling at people. Instead of saying "Get off my lawn" it's "You don't love America." Plus the occasional outburst of, as John Stewart aptly called it, "9/11 Tourette's".

Bill O'Reilly loves America so much he'd fight for her, er, report from a war zone, er, interupt his asado in Argentina to run a little tape.

My "Rudy's Love" theme apparently inspired someone. My work is done there.

So back to ridiculing the Bibi Show, where Netanyahu tells the US how Iran is an existential threat to all of Israel right after his European tour telling Jews to move to Israel for safety. It's so heartwarming to know that the Republican clown car is open to wingers from around the world!

The R's finally realized they need to get beyond anti-science and have become anti-history.

I think they ought to put a question on the AP exam saying: "choose another country for comparison purposes, and identify ways in which that country and the US might each claim to be "exceptional" and ways in which they might not." Just so we can watch the heads explode.

I just saw Jupiter Ascending and the bad guys using the scary science were all Republicans looking to make a buck; they just relied on ignorant bible loving folks to line their pockets and fill their bathtubs.

I find this more convincing coming from people who adhere to the dietary restrictions set forth in Leviticus.

At this point I’m just happy to meet someone capable of formulating an “except when” statement when spouting off about policy. Doesn’t matter to me if he accepts my friendly amendments; he’s already been moderated as far as I’m concerned.

I chafe at a two-dimensional mental framework that continues to govern our political discourse notwithstanding being based on where people sat in a big room in Paris in the 1790s.

I blame the lack of exceptions offered on three things:

1. Our "zero tolerance" society, where all strictures are absolutes;
2. Our rat-like attention spans, through which any aside or equivocation requires the listener to consider something in greater depth than his executive-summary-with-bullet-points addicted mind can handle;
3. A stupid belief that the shorter and more decisive we are, the stronger and smarter we'll seem ("W was a leader... This Obama guy thinks too much." or "That bald guy on Shark Tank talks in short bursts, and he's a serious fucking baller, yo!")

Indeed. I call such a hypothetical voter "Dad" or "Uncle John" - or, since they're now dead, this classification includes any number of cousins named James, Mike, and Brian, who belong to the local Ancient Order of Hibernians lodge in The Ancestral Homeland, and who are cops, firemen, or members of a building and trades union.

The problem arose when so-called Western civilization descended on false dichotomies as the primary basis for ordering its intellectual life and gave up its fidelity to the vastly superior trinity. You think the problems arose in a big room in Paris in the 1790s, but, really, doesn't the problem stretch back through the dialectics of Hegel and the discourses of Luther to all who denied the synderesis of Aquinas and to the Pelagian heretics so thoroughly refuted by Augustine? Perhaps from there even to the simpleton Romans with their inability to understand the subtlety of the Greeks?

Or, as Bob would put it, isn't the problem Uncle Seneca and Uncle Martin?
