for love or money

Yes, I watched it. The Bachelor is a criminal defense lawyer from Dallas. He is so much like my Texas lawyer buddies (ardent soccer player, dorky hair) that I was compelled to watch. In fact, I am certain some of my girlfriends dated him or a reasonable facsimile. He also seemed much less shallow than the Dallas guys I know. ;)

The premise is entertaining, but I cannot imagine why anyone would not take the money rather than the guy at the end of the show. Seeing that most of these "relationships" have a shorter shelf life than the series run, how could you take the guy?

The girls look considerably more interesting and attractive than your typical Bachelor show. There are several women in their 30s and the youngest is 21. Oh, and there is an incredibly gorgeous black woman -- also unusual for a dating show. He kept her in the mix though they had absolutely nothing to say to each other because she was just so gorgeous.

Not true. At 5'6" I only weigh a buck thirty and I have, um, somewhat heavy breasties which probably account for 20+ pounds of that (and no, they aren't fake -- needles and surgery scare me). I think I just have an overactive metabolism -- of course, the fact that don't eat meat products probably helps. I drink wisely. At 110 calories per, 6 beers is 660 calories so you trade that off with some food (a gal's gotta have priorities). It is when you drink and don't cut back on anything else that gets you in trouble. I am a salad-eating bitch who loves to drink beer. You won't get fat as long as you pay attention.

I watched the love or money, sort of, well actually I watched it whilst imming with a fellow board member which I find is the only way to watch these shows.

I think I can say that it is the most honest of the shows, the women came on not knowing 1 million was up, they were supposedly just into finding a man. They were told about the 1 million and some of them are still babbling about love, but now a lot of them are babbling about 1 million dollars. It was pretty funny.

Some of the women are extremely predatory. And one of the women is so mean that she took some poor girl's artwork and wrote on it. That has to be like the definition of bitch. Taking this art work with a painting of a heart on it (yes it was hokey) and writing something like in search for a hunk of meat (originally it said in search for love or something) ok, funny but mean.
I flipped to it when I saw that the French match was two relatively unknown and unhot argentinains (ho hum). I couldnt take more than ten seconds. I dont think I can handle another contrived dating show with the editing and the bullshit proposals. Give me Blind Date any day. That other shit? I would rather be kayaking.

I cant believe nobody else has crush lists.

Sodas are bad for you but beer is full of all natural stuff and, since I don't eat any animal products it is a good source of protein (okay, that's a stretch but you find justification where you can). You got me worried now -- do you really think it is unreasonable to have a few (6 or so) beers at night?
If it's every night, no. 1 mixed drink = 1beer, usually, and that's not the high alcohol stuff. Sure, we all drink that much on a night we're drinking, but it's hard to do that every night. Ask Homer J.

And american beer is not full of all natural stuff. German, yes; American, no.

Well, my doc says everything checks out okay. Maybe it is the Irish and German mix -- born with tolerance, I guess. I always thought soda and coffee guzzlers were in more trouble than us beer drinkers. Like I said, I don't get drunk or anything (I know cuz the old man doesn't drink so he acts as my drunk-o-meter). I don't touch hard liquor or the vino which are much stronger than beer. Hell, I know people who have a mixed drink or two at lunch and many who will have a few at dinner each night and that probably does more damage to their bodies than my beer would. Oh well, everyone has a vice I guess. PJ buys purses and I keep Budweiser afloat.

Your tolerance is high enough that it's not an alcohol problem (in that you are obviously not drunk every night). I would be concerned about all the empty calories. The OM, having been diagnosed with his high blood pressure thing, stopped drinking Mic Ultra at home, and dropped 5 pounds in a month, with no other changes to his diet or exercise. Lance Armstrong drops 5 pounds as soon as he cuts out the Shiner Bock at the end of Winter. (Mmmmm . . . Shiner Bock.)

Thrasher, since you are a vegetarian, I have to highly recommend Gardenburger's new Herbed Cutlet. It's just about the best veggie food ever. High in protein, incredibly delicious.

The real question is how anyone could stand the taste of Bud for 6-8 drinks--beer smells like pee (I don't care what brand anyone tries to defend) and the few times I've been cajoled into trying it I've just gagged.

There is nothing wrong with 6-8 beers that a good bottle of wine or some liquor won't cure.

Yeah, I do actually. I think having 4 (hard) drinks every single night is a lot too. I wouldn't think anything of it if it were an occasional when you are out to have a good time, but rarely do I see people drink that much when we are out to dinner or doing anything other then hanging out in a bar in which the person clearly intends to get tipsy and/or drunk. I don't know anyone who drinks like that, but then a lot of my friends don't drink at all, and I often go months without having any alcohol, so maybe I am not the best judge.

Sorry Paigow, I don't have a crush list. If I did I would be happy to share it.

Here's the best I can do --

Thurgreed - mini crush was dampened by long posts for days and days relating to Annika thing

Tyrone Slothrop - possible crush; but his literary references scare me sometimes

Burger - gave me excellent Hawaii recommendations (btw, Oahu is next...); but since we were discussing things to do with our respective SOs, not crush material

Less - quite respectible knowledge of Reality TV

But my only real crush is on Leagl... Alas, I'm not physically attracted to women (although TF may think so)

My crush list is all old guard (with the addition of the Assertive Canine), but I really enjoy seeing the ascension of our LA guys, stylin and profilin.

You started out by telling us that you drink beer with greater alcohol content and then you justify it by saying that it has lower alcohol content that liquor or wine? Burger is right -- a 12 ounce beer = liquor drink with one shot = 6-8 oz glass of wine. Beer is not better for you. But if it makes you feel better to think so...

6-8 per night, if it is every night, sounds like a lot for someone who weighs 130, but that is definitely your business and if you think its cool, then fine.

You are very right. Arrogance and condescension are not attractive traits. Indeed, many find them quite alienating. It is time I abandoned these online personality quirks. The Flower is turning over a new leaf. From now on, I'm all nicey nice all the time. Soon, I will be topping crush list all across cyber space! Yay!

Did you just call me Coltrane? 06-03-2003 11:17 AM

I drink 6-8 on poker nights (Thursday) and ALWAYS manage to feel like shit the next day...If I could drink 6 a night w/out any reprecussions in the morning, I would.

Bud Ice? I remember Bud Ice. Ex-Lax Ale.
