Maybe you're just not in a subjunctive mood.

No, I think the double negative was intended, you know, as flair.

I now have a medley of Total Eclipse of the Heart and Here I Go Again running through my brain. It's actually not unentertaining. I think I may have to rent Old School just to see this band.

Did I miss something? I am still watching this Shit Ass Show and why is Allison in charge of choosing to axe someone? Hate her. She thinks she is as smart as Jun thinks she is hot, and both are not especially either. Fucking delusional.

Allison has the POV and she was nominated with Jee. She will take herself off and put up (I would think) Ratbert. I believe that the POV and the vote will both be live tommorow nite.

I am amzed at how much they all seem to genuinely hate each other. Everyone talking about secret alliances blah, blah, blah. They are truly an unlikeable bunch.

spoiler

Alison will choose who goes b/c she has the veto power. Jun nominated Alison and Jee. I don't think this is a bad move strategically, because Alison will then use the power of veto and probably put up . . . well, who knows? I would say Robert but Alison's such a loose cannon, you never know. At any rate, this strategy causes Alison to tip her hand. Probably the smart thing to do now that they are down to four would be to use the veto to put up and get rid of Erika, who would otherwise win in a walk once the jury gets involved because the other three are just so damned unlikeable.

I would love to see Alison's outsize ego get the better of her and lead her not to exercise the power of vito (vee-toe, people, hard t, say it with me now, vee-toe) because she is so sure that people want Jee to leave.

But of course she will save her own hideous ass, because she is a cockroach and she will survive (hey, hey).

I think she knows she will lose in a head-to-head with Erika and she was working on an alliance with Robert last night because she thinks she has a chance with the jury against him (even though she is wrong). If she was smart, she would put Robert up, and the girls will vote Jee off. Jee is the best bet for HOH next week and he would toss her ass out of the house for sure, and probably throw Jun in for good measure since she's abandonned their alliance (but would probably suck up to him if he were to win HOH).

I'm pretty sure the veto holder nominates. The idea is to take some of the power away from the HOH and force changes in strategy. If HOH had power to renominate, that takes some of the unpredictability away.

Nope, you're wrong and Paigow is right. When Nathan used the power of veto to get Allison off the block, Dana (HOH) had to nominate someone else and she picked Dave.

So if Allison saves herself, Jun picks the new person. Which is why I don't understand her strategy at all. Why nominate someone who has the veto?

What's the difference between a regular power of vito and a golden power of vito (really an awkward and unpleasantly evocative phrase, don't you think)?

Thank goodness. I was beginning to wonder about my taste in movies. I found Old School amusing at times, but not the hysterical, cutting edge, modern version of Animal House that it was purported to be. No need to rewatch for the Band, I'll just look for the sountrack and check out the tunes.

Will Ferrell must have done a lot of working out and training after the movie. While watching I couldn't help but wonder how the heck he could run a marathon.

Its good to be right. I figured that the reason she nominated Allison was so that Alison could not use her veto power on Robert or whoever Alison may be conspiring with. It ensures that the two Jun wants up are the two that are actually up.

Nope, the HOH nominates the replacement. Jun nominated Ali to prevent Ali from making a deal with one of the Stooges to use the veto on him and then make Jun put Erika up. This way Ali has to use the veto on herself (unless she is beyond stupid) and then Jun will put Ratbert up (unless her alliance with Jee is stronger than I think and she puts up Erika). But if she wants Jee out without making him pissed, this is perfect because Ali and Erika have the only votes unless there is a tie.

I missed Cupid last night and forgot to set the VCR. I know Joe left but what dates did the other guys go on and were there any good rections from Laura and Kimberly? Other than Robert, who will be around until the end, who does Lisa seem ready to see go?

You can use the golden power of veto on yourself and the regular power of veto only on others. Last year they only had one golden power of veto, this season one of the stupid-ass "twists" is that every veto is golden.

This season has sucked except for the initial twist of bringing in the exes. Who the hell cares that Jun got to go to the VMAs or that the veto competition was held before the nomination ceremony. I need more, dammit, moooooore.

In prior years, most vetos were regular - meaning one could not save themselves, only someone else. Paigs and BL are right - if Alison saves herself (which she will b/c no matter what you say about her she is not as moronic as Marcellas), Jun renominates. Whether she will put up Robert to guarantee getting rid of one more Stooge or Erika because she would guarantee getting rid of someone who would beat her (Jee or Erika) is the question. The key to the endgame is who wins HOH tonight.

Diaz is the world’s highest-paid actress, Guinness World Records announced last week, snatching the title from Julia Roberts.

In other news, bitch broke her nose on a foam surfboard.

HONOLULU, Sept. 3 — It wasn’t quite the birthday in paradise Cameron Diaz was hoping for. Diaz said she broke her nose Saturday - her 31st birthday - during a surfing mishap off Waikiki Beach. Diaz said she was surfing with her older sister and a couple of friends when she wiped out and someone’s board hit her in the face. Diaz and her sister said the mishap was caused by someone outside their group.
Her sister, Chimene, said it could have been worse if the board that struck Diaz hadn’t been made of foam. She also said her sister’s nose looked a lot better Tuesday than it did over the Labor Day weekend.

Broken nose here - damn I wish there was a picture

Informatik does this. You can download the demo at www.informatik.com.

Or you can open the tif in MS Paint and save it as a jpeg. Although Paint tends to do funny things. I just tested and it made the background a lovely shade of purple instead of white.

Severed head dude

A 28-year-old carrier van driver's head nearly got chopped off in a road accident. Weeks later he is alive, thanks to sheer grit.

His head almost severed, blood oozing and eyes popping out, Balram was in a dazed state when the accident took place on July 5 in Fatehabad in Uttar Pradesh.

He, however, kept his head attached to his body with some cloth. When no one came to help him, he drove his own vehicle for 30 km to reach a nursing home in Agra.

Doctors there found the head partly joined with the spinal column -- something that saved his life.

D.V. Sharma, who runs the nursing home, said it was Balram's supreme confidence and presence of mind that must have made him drive without any loss of time.

"Had there been some delay, death was a certainty."

"Imagine someone walking into the nursing home with his head almost cut off from the neck. The very thought gives shivers," said an attendant who first saw Balram at the nursing home.
People who donated blood for him were also praised at the function in the hospital, which incidentally refused to take money for his treatment.

Recalling the accident, a family member said: "Balram was returning from Arnauta in Bah tehsil (sub-district) with 10 quintals of wheat in his van. When he was passing through the main market in Fatehabad, a tractor trolley carrying iron rods and pipes ahead of him suddenly applied the breaks.

"Balram could not stop in time and banged into the trolley. The iron rods pierced through his neck. His head fell on one side, attached precariously to the spinal cord.

"He was fully conscious and all his organs were in command. Promptly, Balram straightened his head and tied a 'safi' (a thin cloth towel) around it and rushed towards Agra. Whoever saw the scene couldn't believe his eyes. The crowd that assembled around did nothing.

"When Balram tried to speak, blood oozed from his mouth.

"Soaked in blood and in a totally shattered state, even his co-worker collapsed unconscious. But Balram did not lose heart. He kick-started the van and went to a nearby doctor who advised him to immediately rush to Agra. The first nursing home on the way refused him admission as he was in a critical state.

The link was disappointing. Perhaps you could rename it something less misleading.

And as far as severed heads go, I really feel for the Houston lady who was trapped in an elevator with a severed head for like an hour. I have heard that an elevator repair company had turned off the safety switches on the doors while performing maintenance, and then forgot to turn them on again. Whoops.

Edited to add this: Perhaps this has something to do with the recent appearance of the Salome avatar?

Was it definitely the head she was with an not the body? I was wondering but didn't ever look it up or actually watch the news or anything.

I've been pondering which would be worse to be stuck with (head or body). On the one hand, the head has the face and stuff. On the other hand, it seems like the body would produce a lot more blood than just a head, and who wants to be stuck watching a huge pool of blood getting bigger and bigger?
