I know I am in SoCal

when a guy barely out of high school asks if I've looked into plastic surgery when I express discontent with scars on my throat. And the place between the collarbones where it goes in and the pulse can be felt strongly and it's delicate and it seems like a good place to choke people (where my trach scars are) was all bandaged on him. So something bad had maybe happened.

I don't believe that has ever stopped anyone from fucking me.

It may have stopped someone from embarking on a relationship with me -- I don't know. I doubt it -- webbed toes are the least of my issues.

I have always thought the webbed toes were part of my allure.

I thought that this was an interesting observation about genes and elite running:
Quote:

A biologist who has collected and analyzed the DNA of elite track and field athletes has come to a startling conclusion: based on the gene variants known so far, champion athletes are pretty ordinary.
. . .
The article doesn’t say that genes are unimportant, just that the variants that science has so far associated with things such as power and ability to improve aerobic endurance don’t explain actual performance particularly well, at least not in runners studied by Pitsiladis. There may be many more variants to be identified, but there are also likely very strong non-genetic influences on performance. Elite Kenyan runners, for example, disproportionately ran several miles to and from school as kids compared to a Kenyan control group.

And, fascinatingly, though we tend to think of athletic drive as distinct from genetic gifts, it may not be. Some research suggests that motivation — via the neurotransmitter dopamine, involved with reward — may also be partly inherited. In other words, SI says, genetics, the environment and elements usually chalked up to personality, like motivation or willpower, may interplay in ways we can’t even imagine.

Where downtown? I really like Zengo, if you're down near Penn Quarter.

I like small plates: Jaleo; Zaytinya; or any other of Jose Andres' groups restaurants. Ceiba is good for Latin American fusion. If you want good old American power dining, Occidental around 14th and Penn is excellent. The Old Ebbitt and 15th and Penn is great.

These are all well-established places. If you want to move upscale and a bit newer, Michel Richard in supposed to be quite good, but I'm not a huge fan of molecular gastronomy and frou-frou for its own sake.
