Did you hear Eliot Spitzer got kicked out of his synagogue?

It wasn't for moral issues, it was for paying retail.

I have seen porn stars at ~$20,000 per day.

This suggests that $1,500 an hour is a going rate. http://www.pamelapeaks.com/Data/Tale...rtServices.htm (not particularly safe for work).

It has been made clear to me that I would earn more as an escort . . . but I meant that I was the one who was curious.

My post OddMan ex made a "joking" overture this afternoon, so I wanted to know if he was being cheap or generous.

I refused, of course, because I have an SO and I am not a whore (aside from that whole talking for money thing we do).

Vanity Fair piece on "CL Killer"

This piece seems to be a good summary of the Craigslist Killer case. I can't say I learned anything new about the reported facts but there was at least one shocking revelation:

Quote:

Few Americans, even those from the younger, Internet generation, seem to understand how easily their clicks and text messages can be detected, and how little privacy any of us have anymore. Every search, every posting, every text message or Twitter, leaves a cyber footprint.

Does anyone here still visit CL with any regularity?

It's the best way to advertise an apartment. My uncle owns a rental duplex in town and that's where we advertise. Reading about this case does make me feel a little bit like I should consider bringing someone else along when I show it.

I've also bought tickets and stuff from Craiglist. But with that I usually meet the people in a public place.

For dating or for selling/buying stuff? I never did the former, but certainly do the latter (although with not as much success as I'd like).

BTW, has some group of spammers figured out how to autogenerate messages trolling for email addresses? When I've posted stuff recently I often get an email within a day or to that sounds suspiciously generic, like "is this still available? I'm happy to put a $100 deposit down if you'll hold it for me." I assume they hope for a reply from a real (non-CL) email that can be added to the spam list . . .

Although an ex may snap one off beforehand and make it last much longer. You have to watch out for exes.

I used to get some enjoyment out of reading Rants and Raves when the section first started but it devolved into almost pure vitriol over time so I haven't looked at R&R in ages. I also adopted my cat from CL back in 2004 and found a cooking group and a book club there around the same time. Then I had a case in 2007 which had some facts related to a party soliciting for "lunch dates" on CL. Around the same time, the local news seemed to have regular reports of prostitution arrests stemming from CL ads. I just got increasingly wary of the site.

I never really tried or had any luck in the buying and selling sections. I successfully posted for free, used computer and stereo components that I left curbside. Everything was grabbed within hours of posting those ads.

I've bought a few things. Never sold anything. I also found a cooking club back in 2000. I also used to read rants and raves until it got toxic. My work banned the rants and raves section around the same time.

My youngest sister uses it all the time for all sorts of things. She found a job, at least two apartments, has sold / given away stuff, advertised her services for a dog walker, and hired another dog walker.

Poor paragraph construction on my part. My wariness developed from reading the Rants and Raves.

I don't know where you hang out. In Vegas I've had offers of anywhere from $300 to $800, though one has to wonder if the price keeps rising if you actually do go back to your hotel room.

(To be clear, the offer involved me paying the stripper for what I suppose she viewed as her moonlighting job.)

I wonder how much the recession has driven down those prices. Apropos of little, See Joel Stein's hit piece on Vegas in a recent Time story. Wasn't about ho-ing per se, but still.

I think it really depends on what city you are in as to how useful it is. It was never particularly trafficked or useful in Dallas. In LA, it is the main source for apartment listings (other than Westside Rentals, which is a total scam in my opinion) and I've had good luck with selling furniture and buying and selling concert tix. It is also a go to site here for job listings in graphic and web design. When I first moved to LA I made a friend from the Strictly Platonic section but I have no idea what that is like these days.

2. I've been given a similar offer.

In Atlantic City it's 1/2 that price. My guess is they make up the difference stealing your credit card, or cufflinks.

if you leave those kind of memories you have a great second source of income. I would take a glance at your firm's partnership agreement and see how it defines the services for which it takes all proceeds, just to see if they define them broadly.
