Standing up at a debate and saying “I believe in free healthcare for illegals“ is a far different thing. The picture painted there is one of billions upon billions being spent. Healthcare for illegals is an issue the Democrats should run from at every turn in this campaign. There is no way to frame that argument that allows Ds to overcome the GOP talking point, “you want giveaways for illegals!” |

I have not been to Calabria, but have been to Sicily, and it's pretty much the same thing, right? I have to say, the pasta in Sicily was mediocre, the pizza absolutely horrendous, and the breads downright rubbery - I was still doing gluten during my trip there. On the other hand, the fish was incredible, the fresh herbs plentiful and delicious, and the Gelato and Granita to die for. Far be it from me to tell you your heritage, but could there be another side of southern Italy's food worth exploring? |

We are poor people though so not much meat- most pastas were with seafood. Caulonia is on the Ionian Sea so seafood is basically free. The best dish though was a pasta using CANNED tuna fish. Fucking Calabrese are the hard heads of the world- they live on the sea, a sea that has tuna, but they open a can? but it was amazing. Also lots of vegetables. Spicy cicitti (garbanzo beans) over pasta. |

I've been to Italy twice. The food in Florence was really good. It was average in Rome. And in the Amalfi Coast it was probably the best I've ever had (mostly seafood). |

Is there a white male athlete with whom Trump has mixed it up on Twitter? I'm not thinking of one.

GUTHRIE: “—A lot of you have been talking tonight about these government healthcare plans that you proposed in one form or another. This is a show of hands question. And hold them up for a moment so people can see. Raise your hand if—if your government plan would provide coverage for undocumented immigrants. (APPLAUSE)” Everyone raised their hands. They then explained it wasn’t free. But we all know it’s going to be almost entirely subsidized. I don’t know enough about the plans to have a strong opinion, but I do know thus is Dumb Politics. (The optics of everyone raising hands is terrible. Creates a resonant photo. Never do that. Ever.) |

There are 20 candidates with 20 different plans in different states of completion - why are you assuming it would be heavily subsidized. A lot of immigrants here are working very hard and making respectable money. * well, technically not true just because its false. but, hey, you have some thoughts on how even though the facts are wrong it kind of reflects .... I don't know, false with a good excuse? |

We all know it's going to be minimally - I mean in the tiniest imaginable amounts - funded by actual illegal immigrants. It's going to be funded by the govt. So while it might appear the Post is lying, actually, the Post is calling out the candidates for bullshitting about what they know is not going to happen. Good on the Post there. I usually hate the Post, but here, it's Occam's Razor applied-with-a-beer-bottle-over-the-head hybrid approach worked nicely. Anyway, as to the substance, this whole debate is dumb. Illegals aren't going to pay for care because most can't do so. So we should set aside a few billion to cover ER care for them. Anyone with an objection to that is a ghoul. We cannot turn people away from acute care. Putting aside that it's barred in most regards, no one wants to live in a country like that. It's vile. BUT, no politician on the Right or Left can say what I just said because on the Left, putting aside a few billion for ER care for illegals is inadequate. On the Right, it's a "giveaway!" So we're doomed to see bullshitters raise their hands and bullshit about their plans on health care for illegals for the next year and a half. If this were a cycle where Rs were running for the nomination against a D incumbent, you'd see exactly the same type of bullshit. Rs would get up there and say they'd make illegals pay money for health coverage they know illegals do not have. Or they'd talk about how they'd pass bills stopping illegals from getting access to ERs, which they know is unlawful. The Post is the perfect sort of shitrag to cover this dumb shit. |

You can’t even be magnanimous here. I’m actually in favor of subsidizing care for the undocumented (it’s what we already do, so just make it official already). Ty has to win on proofs. Has to be right about everything, even when it’s impossible for him to be so. Like arguing with a spouse. Ever won an argument with a significant other? How’d that impact your love life? Lawyers are such tools. Including me. Why am I here? My desire to debate is mindless. We’re on a road to nowhere, and I’ve had a really nice ticket. This place is like a history of the strangest form of depression any human has had. I should be drunk and naked somewhere. So should you! Why? Why think beyond gain/necessity? It does No Good. None at all. What do I do with it? Nothing. It just idles the engine when one is better served turning off the engine. |

These folks are making enough to pay into a health insurance system? You might be a ghoul here. They can’t afford it. We’re better off subsidizing them and allowing them to use every penny of disposable income in the broader economy rather than funneling a disproportionate amount to health care. |
