It's a rich history. Changing a bit these days, FWIW. Brand, Maggette, etc.

What booze do you like best with eggnog? I'm serving some tonight to quench the thirsts of my tree-trimming guest(s), and I've been using vodka in the past (mainly because that's what I've had on hand).

Tonight, I have advance warning and desire for tastier stuff. Any suggestions and/or old family recipies that don't involve making the egg nog from scratch?
I would go with either a decent brandy or a good rum. A really good bourbon would work, but I cry at any use of really good bourbon that goes past adding two ice cubes to the glass.

Don't forget Bobby Hurley.

I was always a Duke fan. It goes back to when I was 13 and we went to the Final Four Bobby Hurley's freshman year. I must have been smoking crack then. It's the only reason I can come up with that explains why I had such a crush on him then. He graduated and started sucking in the pros before I finished HS, though.

Mmmm. Bourbon eggnog. That sounds really good. Sadly, I have neither bourbon nor eggnog in the house at the moment.

2 I loved UNLV. True story- I'm on the 7 A.M. Detroit to DC flight one morning. Looking through the Northwest magazine and there's an article about Tark. I glance off to the other side of the aisle and there is a dumpy bald guy with a towel over head. It was the man himself.

He got off the plane and the NW toadies starting offering him VIP crap. He said no thanks and just walked out to a cab. Recruiting visit I guess.

I thought I had a point about UNLV when I started this, but it turns out I don't. But I did like them as a program.
Refusing VIP crap? I guess he was under investigation then, huh?

I am fucking old.

No. It really wasn't.

The announcers would always paint UNLV as a bunch of uneducated criminals while sucking Blue Devil dick as hard as they could. I swear if I heard any more bullshit about what a great citizen Laettner was and how Duke was so smart on the court, while UNLV/Michigan/whoever had all the big, bad, uneducated athletes (among them, Greg Anthony, a double major with a 4.0) I would hunt Gattigap down myself and throttle him. And Laettner was a dirty, piece of shit who, along with the rest of his team, always got the benefit of every call that could go either way.

Duke can suck it.

This I generally agree with. Leattner (and Hurley) were living examples of the self-exculpatory sporting maxim, "well, he's an SOB, but he's our SOB."

Well, Duke DOES have one. The only thing that separates UNLV from the Strip, IIRC, is McCarran Airport.
And you illustrate my point.

You're welcome.

Since I've done so, I'm curious. Is your indictment of big time college basketball in general, or Duke's in particular?

By the way, that championship in 1990-91 (as I've said 100 times) was the result of UNLV throwing that game. UNLV beats them by 30 the year before and then loses as huge favorites the following year when they were undefeated and even better? "It was Coach K's masterful coaching performance and those kids played their hearts out!" Please. That's some bullshit. If you watch those two games you can see how UNLV threw that game.

And no, I'll never let that go.

Duke basketball? I can take it or leave it. Don't really care. I enjoy seeing them lose, but I hate the Yankees more.

Duke fans? Wow. Probably the biggest group of dorks. Ever. Complete fucking tools. I've never met a Duke fan that wasn't an annoying little piece of mouse shit.
