Frankly, I find the Good Housekeeping/Ladies' Home Journal headlines like "5 Ways to Serve Your Husband When The Poor Dear's Tired From Juggling His Job and His Mistress" and "You are a Miserably Shitty Mom if You Don't Bake Your Kids' Cookies From Scratch" a lot more offensive.

I went to see Finding Nemo on Friday. Has anyone else noted the new (for me) phenomena of a twenty minute series of commericals before start time? They used to have maybe six or seven commercials that started around the time that the movie was supposed to start, but maybe two months ago, they started doing this twenty minute thing. I suspect that lawsuit filed a few months ago has something to do with it. (BTW, the Cartoon Network has some really funny commericals these days.)

Anyhow, previews start and I'm given the best sixty second preview ever. I know nothing about the film. I only know that I'll be there when it opens. http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney...les/large.html (spree: best preview ever)

I actually watched the full game (a first for me this Stanley cup finals) and it was a good game I thought. Now I was a little out of it because I was still hungover Saturday night from going out Friday (I cannot drink like I used to), but it looked clean to me. A little late, maybe, but split second late. And isn't the rule that you still have possession (and still fair game) even if you have got rid of the puck so long as no one else has touched it? I didn't think he led with the elbow either.*


*I still hate Scott Stevens and am so pleased that Kariya scored later on (and got up and walked off the ice after the hit), I just think the call was the correct one.

You're right. That is an excellent preview!

I am disappointed more dvds do not come with previews. We saw 8 Mile and Bourne Identity this weekend, and I enjoyed them both far more than I had expected.

I downloaded and watched both "Finding Nemo" and "Bruce Almighty" this weekend.

The Carrey flick was worth about exactly what I paid to see it - nothing.

"Nemo", on the other had, was phenomenal. I may now actually go shell out the 10 bucks to watch it [and the 20 minutes of commericals] on the big screen.

I too recently saw Finding Nemo -- and that preview was so funny, I was trying to describe it to my husband (the part where the guy yells upstairs, "maybe just a salad...") and was laughing so hard I could barely get the words out.

(I couldn't see the link, but the preview was memorable indeed -- what struck me as odd, was that the release date for this movie is about 18 months away!)

I wholeheartedly agree about Finding Nemo. The theater that I was in was full of both kids and adults, and I'm unsure which audience liked the movie more.

Pixar has yet to disappoint me.

Sometimes when I see the number of members on this board (800ish) I think to myself that if there was another couple of posters with as many active socks as I have (say Billmore, Chef, Slave, Plated or one of the handful of other truly legendary sockers) than there are only about a dozen people here.

Apropos of nothing, Bridget Jones' diary was on some movie channel this weekend and I watched it and it struck me how much cuter and more attractive Renee Z is with 10 more pounds (at least) on her. Her face does not look so squished for some reason. Some women look better when they're very skinny, but not her. I wonder if she is going to put back on the weight for the sequel.

I read that she agreed to gain 20 pounds for the movie. I also agree with you that she looks better when she's a little meatier -- however, that was no 10 pounds extra she had in BJD. I would guess it was about 35 to 40 pounds extra in that movie. She's gotta weigh about 110 now (in skeletor mode), and she was a good 145 -150 in that flick.
